Quinnipiac men's ice hockey junior Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) has been named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week, as announced by the league office today.

Hartzell had an outstanding weekend, to add to an already impressive season, with a 2-1 upset win of No. 20 Yale and a 2-2 tie against Brown - both games on the road. Hartzell turned back 25 of Yale's 26 shots on goal in the Bobcats' ECAC Hockey win against the nationally-ranked Elis. It was just the second time this season that Quinnipiac's cross-town ECAC Hockey rival was held to fewer than two goals this year. Hartzell then stopped 26 of 28 shots on goal at Brown, including the last 14 he saw over the final two periods, and overtime, in a 2-2, come-from-behind tie.

Hartzell ran his unbeaten streak against ECAC Hockey opponents to five games (3-0-2) and has now held the Bobcats' opponent to two or fewer goals in 11 of his last 12 starts. For the year, he boasts a 3-2-4 record against ECAC Hockey schools with a .936 save percentage and a 1.56 goals-against average.

Quinnipiac is back in action this weekend when it hosts nationally ranked Cornell on Friday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. and Colgate on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 4 p.m. at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center. Following the Bobcats' game against Colgate on Saturday, High Point Solutions Arena will host the popular "Skate With The Bobcats" event, as fans are invited to hit the ice with their favorite men's ice hockey players following the game. Skates will not be provided.
