The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team hosts Yale on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in an ECAC Hockey match-up that can be seen live on SportsNet New York (SNY). Quinnipiac is 16-10-5 overall and 8-7-4 in ECAC Hockey play while Yale enters Saturday's contest at 13-13-2 overall and 10-10-1 in league action following a 5-2 win against Princeton on Friday night.
Quinnipiac is 7-5-1 all-time against Yale dating back to its first meeting against the Bulldogs on Jan. 8, 2006. Quinnipiac lost that game, 4-3, before rattling off five straight wins. Since the 2009-10 season, Yale holds the advantage with wins in four of the last seven meetings between the two teams, which also features two ties. Quinnipiac's last win against Yale came on earlier this season when the Bobcats upset the Bulldogs, nationally-ranked 20th at the time, 2-1 at Ingalls Rink. Quinnipiac's last win on its home ice came in a 4-3 decision on Feb. 27, 2010.
Quinnipiac is coming off a thrilling 4-1 win against Brown on Friday night that clinched the Bobcats home ice in the first round of the upcoming ECAC Hockey Tournament, set to commence next weekend. The Bobcats can gain a first-round bye with one of the top four seeds. Kellen Jones (Montrose, British Columbia) and Matthew Peca (Petawawa, Ontario) factored into all four Quinnipiac goals on the night, as Jones had two goals and two assists while Peca had four assists in the win. Connor Jones (Montrose, British Columbia) and Zach Tolkinen (Lino Lakes, Minn.) had a goal and an assist each. Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ontario) picked up the win in goal after stopping 20-of-21 shots on goal by the Bears.

The 10th Annual Heroes Hat game between Quinnipiac and Yale is set for a 7 p.m. start at High Point Solutions Arena. Quinnipiac won the first eight Heroes Hat before Yale won last season's match-up. The presentation of the Heroes Hat will take place following the game. The Heroes Hat was established in honor of those who risked or lost their lives following the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. It remembers Joseph Mascali (FDNY/Staten Island 5), father of former Quinnipiac golfer Chris Mascali '05, Jennifer Mascali '02 and current sophomore Katie Mascali '14.
Bobcat fans attending Saturday night's game are encouraged to bring a hat to donate to Don's Hat Rack. Don's Hat Rack was created in 1999 in memory of Donald Perrotti who lost his battle to cancer. The hat rack is located in Yale New Haven Children's Hospital where Don spent 6 years of his life.
