The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team was ranked 20th in the USCHO.com Division I Poll, released on Monday, Oct. 24. Quinnipiac had been receiving votes in the two previous polls. The Bobcats also landed in the No. 18 spot in the INCH Power Rankings.
The Bobcats return to the national rankings for the first time since Jan. 17, 2010 after opening the season with wins in six of their first eight games. Last week, Quinnipiac defeated Bentley, 6-1, before splitting a weekend series at Robert Morris, losing the first game, 5-4, before bouncing back with a 4-1 victory in the final match-up of the two-game set.
Jeremy Langlois (Tempe, Ariz.) currently leads the nation with eight goals and six assists for 14 points and has tallied a point in each of the Bobcats' first eight games. Highly-touted freshman Matthew Peca (Petawawa, Ontario) is enjoying a seven-game point streak and has totaled three goals and fine assists. Picking up where they left off, twin brothers Connor and Kellen Jones (Montrose, British Columbia) have 10 and eight points, respectively.
Goalie Dan Clarke (Belleville, Ontario) is currently 4-1-0 with a .929 save percentage and a 1.39 goals against average. Clarke has allowed just three goals in his last 199 minutes in net over his last four appearances, which also included a 14-save, 4-0 shutout of Canisius on Oct. 16.
Quinnipiac has the weekend off, but will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 1 when it opens ECAC Hockey play at Hobey Baker Memorial Rink against Princeton at 7 p.m. They will then travel to Hanover, N.H. to face Dartmouth on Friday, Nov. 4 before heading to Cambridge, Mass. on Saturday, Nov. 5 to take on Harvard.
