"I think we're playing well right now," Hartzell said. "Absolutely, we're still trying to figure it out. We had a bitter taste in our mouth after how last year ended, and we have a lot of guys back and we have something to prove."
Peca scored the game's first goal at the 9:45 mark of the first period. when he picked up a loose puck in front of the Quinnipiac bench. Peca skated into the Buckeyes' zone, between the face-off circles and wristed a shot past Ohio State's Brady Hjelle to give Quinnipiac an early 1-0 lead.
"It was just a broken play," Peca explained. "Someone from their side turned it over and I found it on my tape. It turned into a 3-and-2 and Kellen [Jones] set-up a perfect screen in front."
With less than half of the third period to play Tyler Lundey sent a puck in front of Hartzell that found Matt Johnson on the doorstep for a one-timer that put Ohio State on the board and tied the game at 1-1.
"They had a guy on the wall," Hartzell explained. "He turned and threw the puck in front of the goal and their guy was able to get a stick on it and chip it up off the bar and in the goal."
