Quinnipiac men's ice hockey senior Ben Arnt (Oakdale, Minn.) was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.
Arnt had an outstanding series in leading the then-ranked No. 9 Bobcats to a series sweep of No. 12/13 Nebraska-Omaha on Dec. 29-30. Arnt tallied a team-best two goals and one assist for the series, while also coming away from the two-game set as the only Bobcat to score in both games. Arnt had a goal and an assist in the Bobcats' 5-4 win on Saturday before following with a one-goal performance on Sunday.
Arnt's two-point game on Saturday was his first of the season and his first since Jan. 16, 2011 when he tallied two assists in a win against Canisius. It also marked the first time since Feb. 24, 2012 that Quinnipiac featured three players with multiple-point games as Jordan Samuels-Thomas had two goals and an assist while Matthew Peca also had a goal and an assist. For the season, Arnt has four goals and four assists for eight points.
Quinnipiac, currently in first place at 8-0-0 in ECAC Hockey, returns to league play this weekend when it hosts No. 8 Dartmouth on Friday, Jan. 4 and Harvard on Saturday, Jan. 5. Both games are set for a 7 p.m. start and can both be viewed live on New England Sports Network (NESN).
