Quinnipiac senior Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) was named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month for December on Jan. 3, 2013. The honor was Hartzell's second consecutive Goalie of the Month award after he also took home the honor for November.
For the month of December, Hartzell was 5-0-0 between the pipes with a .941 save percentage and a 1.40 goals-against average. The 6-4 goalie stopped 111 of 118 shots faced on goal. In three ECAC Hockey games, Hartzell was 3-0-0 with a 0.67 GAA and a .962 save percentage. At RPI on Dec. 1, Hartzell stopped 21 of 22 in a 3-1 win. In a weekend series against Princeton, he stopped 11 of 12 in a 3-1 win at home before posting an 18-save shutout - his fourth of the season and 9th of his career - to pull him into a tie for the most in QU history. Most recently against No. 12/13 Nebraska-Omaha, Hartzell stopped 33 of 37 in a 5-4 win before dominating play with a 28-save effort in a 3-1 for the series sweep.
For the year, he is 16-2-2 (.850 winning percentage, 1st NCAA) with a .934 save percentage (12th-NCAA) and a 1.48 GAA (3rd-NCAA). He was also the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week on Dec. 4.
