Quinnipiac men's ice hockey senior Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) has been highlighted on CBSSports.com's Hobey Baker Award Watch. The weekly feature is compiled by CBSports.com "Eye on Hockey" blogger Chris Peters and CBS Sports Network Analyst Dave Starman.
Hartzell leads NCAA Division I hockey with 18 wins (18-2-3) and is one of three goalies in the country with a winning percentage or .800 or higher at .848 (2nd, NCAA). He also boasts a .934 save percentage (11th, NCAA) and a 1.45 goals-against average (2nd, NCAA). Hartzell is one of two goalies in the country with a save percentage of .934 or higher and one of four with a GAA of 2.00 or lower to have played in more than 90% of their respective team's total time in net.
Hartzell was also recently featured in Sports Illustrated's "Faces In The Crowd" on Jan. 21, 2013. He was also named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month for November and December and was also the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week on Dec. 4, 2012 and Jan. 9, 2013.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Friday, Feb. 1 when it travels to Providence, R.I. to take Brown in an ECAC Hockey match-up at Meehan Auditorium at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 2, Quinnipiac will head to Ingalls Rink to take on No. 8 Yale at 7 p.m. in a game that will be available live on CPTV, where available.
