Last Time Out
On Friday, Feb. 15, the nationally-ranked No. 1 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team lost to St. Lawrence, 2-1, ending the Bobcats' 21-game unbeaten streak. The loss was also Quinnipiac's first ECAC Hockey loss as it drops to 14-1-2 in league play and 21-4-4 overall. St. Lawrence improves to 14-11-4 overall and 7-6-4 in ECAC Hockey. Despite the loss, Quinnipiac clinched the Cleary Cup for its first ECAC Hockey regular-season championship since joining the league in 2005-06, as second-place Yale lost to Union, 4-2, in Schenectady, N.Y. The Bobcats will be the top seed in the ECAC Hockey tournament, with a bye in the first round, and will host a best-of-three quarterfinals series on Mar. 15-17.
What's Up Next
Following their weekend set against St. Lawrence and Clarkson, The Bobcats will remain at home for their final ECAC Hockey home weekend of the regular season. Quinnipiac will host #10 Yale on Friday, Feb. 22 in the annual Heroes Hat Game at 7:30, availalbe live on NBC Sports Network. On Saturday, Feb. 23, the Brown Bears will visit Hamden to wrap up the regular season home schedule. Ben Arnt, Loren Barron, Kevin Bui, Zack Currie, Mike Dalhuisen, Zach Davies, Russell Goodman, Eric Hartzell, Clay Harvey, Jeremy Langlois, and Reese Rolheiser will be honored before the game in the annual Senior Day ceremony.
Quinnipiac's Most Important Poll
For the first time in program history, the Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team has been ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com Division I poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, as announced on Feb. 11, 2013. Not only is the Bobcats' No. 1 ranking a first in program history, but it is also the first time a Quinnipiac athletic program has been nationally-ranked No. 1.
The PairWise Rankings
After completing a weekend sweep in last weekend's ECAC Hockey series at Cornell and Colgate, the top-ranked Bobcats remained at the top of the PairWise Rankings. It is the second time in program history that the Bobcats have held down the top spot in the PWR's. In 2009, Quinnipiac moved into the top spot after opening the season at 12-1-0.
