No. 1 Bobcats Fall In Overtime To Harvard, 2-1

CAMBRIDGE, Mass – No. 1 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey lost to Harvard, 2-1 in overtime, at Bright Hockey Center in Cambridge, Mass. Ben Arnt (Oakdale, Minn.) scored Quinnipiac's only goal as the Bobcats' loss drops them to 23-5-5 overall and 16-2-3 in ECAC Hockey play. Harvard improves to 9-16-3 overall and 6-13-2 in league play.

Arnt put Quinnipiac on top, 1-0, with his sixth goal of the season. Jordan Samuels-Thomas (Windsor, Conn.) carried the puck out from behind the Harvard goal and attempted to jam the puck past Crimson goalie Raphael Girard. Samuels-Thomas' attempt was denied with the puck drifting from the crease to between the face-off circles. Arnt was there to clean up the loose puck, firing on goal and beating Girard to give the Bobcats a one-goal lead.

With 14:22 remaining in the game, Harvard tied the game after Quinnipiac turned the puck over in the neutral zone. Kyle Criscoulo gave the puck to Marshall Everson who skated into the Bobcats' defensive zone. He then dropped a pass back to Criscoulo in the slot who fired a wrister past Hartzell to knot the score at 1-1.

With 18.6 seconds remaining in overtime, Alex Fallstrom took a pass from Greg Gozzo and one-timed the game-winner past Hartzell to give Harvard the one-goal, overtime win. Brayden Jaw was also credited with an assist.

Quinnipiac will play its final regular-season game of the year on Saturday, Mar. 2 when it heads to Hanover, N.H. to take on Dartmouth at 7 p.m. at Thompson Arena. The Bobcats, who clinched the Cleary Cup for the ECAC Hockey Regular-Season Championship, will have  a bye in the ECAC Hockey Tournament First Round, set to begin next weekend. Quinnipiac will host a best-of-three games, tournament quarterfinals series on Mar. 15-17.
