No. 1 Bobcats To Appear On ESPNU For 2013 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Selection Show
BRISTOL, Conn. – The nationally-ranked No. 1 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team will appear on ESPNU on Sunday, Mar. 24 as part of the 2013 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament Selection Show at 9 p.m. Anish Shroff and analysts Barry Melrose and Dave Starman will appear on the selection show for the 2013 men's NCAA tournament.
Quinnipiac men's ice hockey head coach Rand Pecknold was named the 2013 ECAC Hockey Tim Taylor Coach of the Year this past weekend. In addition to Pecknold's honor, senior goalie Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) was named the league's Player of the Year, Goaltender of the Year and First Team honoree while also being named a Hobey Baker Memorial Award Top-10 Finalist. Zach Davies (Smithers, British Columbia) was named the league's Best Defensive Defenseman while also earning Third Team honors along with teammate Jeremy Langlois (Tempe, Ariz.).
The Bobcats are currently 27-7-5 overall and ranked No. 1 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Division I poll, No. 1 in the PairWise Rankings and No. 2 in the USCHO.com Division I poll. Quinnipiac also captured its first ECAC Hockey Regular-Season Championship this season, hoisting the Cleary Cup after tallying a 17-2-3 record in league play on its way to becoming the first team in league history to finish ahead of the second place team by double-digits. Quinnipiac currently features the nation's best scoring defense as it has held its opponents to 1.62 goals per game. Quinnipiac's 91.0% penalty kill also ranks as the best in the nation. Quinnipiac's last NCAA Tournament appearance came in 2002.
