Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Places 23 On ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team

The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team placed 23 student-athletes on the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday, July 3. Quinnipiac's 23 student-athletes were the second most in the conference, trailing only Rensselaer's 24. 

Players are eligible for the All-Academic team if they earn a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale orhave a GPA over 3.00 over the past three semesters. 

Most notable on the list are six seniors who received All-Academic honors for the fourth straight list. That list includes Ben Arnt (Oakland, Minn.), Kevin Bui (Edmonton, Alberta), Mike Dalhuisen (Nymegen, Holland), Zack Currie (Victoria, British Columbia), Zack Davies (Smithers, British Columbia) and Jeremy Langlois (Tempe, Ariz.). 

Quinnipiac prepares for the 2013-14 season after advancing to the 2013 NCAA National Championship Game for the first in program history. In 2012-13, the Bobcats won their first ECAC Hockey Regular-Season Championship before winning the first NCAA Tournament game in program history, capturing the NCAA Tournament East Regional Championship and advancing to the NCAA Frozen Four. The Bobcats finished the season as the National Runner-up, with a 30-8-5 record that featured a 17-2-3 mark in ECAC Hockey. Quinnipiac's 2012-13 season also featured the program's first time first No. 1 national ranking and a program-record 21-game unbeaten streak. In addition, Quinnipiac led the nation in scoring defense, penalty killing and overall winning percentage. The Bobcats also featured a Hobey Baker "Hat Trick" Finalist in Eric Hartzell, who went on to sign with the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins. 

The Bobcat hockey upperclassmen will travel abroad for the first time in program history visiting Italy and Switzerland from Aug. 11-21.
