Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Dealt 4-1 Exhibition Loss To SC Langenthal

The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team were dealt a 4-1 loss in an exhibition match-up against Swiss professional team, SC Langenthal, at Localnet Arena in Burgdorf, Switzerland. 

 

Russell Goodman (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) scored the Bobcats' lone goal on assists to Kevin Bui (Edmonton, Alberta) and Tom Hilbrich (Clarendon, Ill.). Bui started the played when he wrapped the puck around the boards where Hillbrich picked it up. The Bobcats' sophomore defenseman got tied up in the corner before Bui tipped the puck loose and sent it to Goodman at the point. Goodman fired a shot on goal as Bui screened Langenthal goalie Mario Mathis, allowing Goodman's shot to find the opposite corner to give Quinnipiac the marker. 

Quinnipiac starting goalie Michael Garteig (Prince George, British Columbia) had 26 saves in the game. The Bobcats played tight down thr stretch, outshooting their opposition, 21-13, over the final two periods. Langenthal had an empty-netter late in the third period.

Quinnipiac continues its tour of Italy and Switzerland tomorrow when it faces Martigny Red Ice in Martigny, Switzerland on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
