Their Last Time Out
Jordan Samuels-Thomas had a goal and two assists to lead Quinnipiac to a 3-1 win at UMass Lowell on Friday, Oct. 18. Connor Clifton and Derek Smith also scored for the Bobcats, while Connor Jones had two assists.  UMass Lowell's Adam Chapie scored the River Hawks only goal. 

What's Up Next
After its series against UMass Lowell, Quinnipiac will host Bentley on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at High Points Solutions Arena. They will then face Holy Cross on Oct. 25-26, traveling to Worcester, Mass. for a Friday night match-up before hosting the Crusaders on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Saturday's Banner Raising
Prior to the start of Quinnipiac's game against UMass Lowell on Saturday, Oct. 19, Quinnipiac Athletics will unveil three banners commemorating the men's ice hockey team's 2012-13 season that featured the ECAC Hockey Regular Season Championship, the NCAA East Regional Championship and the trip to the NCAA Frozen Four. 

Bobcats Against Hockey East
Quinnipiac is 15-20-4 against Hockey East teams since it joined the Division I ranks in 1998-99. Including Friday night's win. this year's seniors have posted a 4-2-0 record against Hockey East opponents over the last three years. 

Scouting The UMass Lowell River Hawks
UMass Lowell entered the 2013-14 season as the No. 1 team in both the Division I Preseason Poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Polls. The River Hawks opened the season with a 2-1 loss to Sacred Heart on Friday, Oct. 11 before bouncing back with a 5-2 win against UMass on Saturday, Oct. 12. The River Hawks return 21 players from their 2012-13 team that advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four. Senior Joseph Pendenza scored in both games last weekend while Michael Fallon, Ryan McGrath and Chris Maniccia tallied a goal and an assist for the weekend. Connor Hellebuyck had an incredible freshman year in 2012-13, leading the nation in winning percentage, save percentage, goals-against average and shutouts. Hellebuyck took the loss on Friday night while senior Doug Carr picked up the win on Saturday.   

All-Time Against UMass Lowell
Friday night's 3-1 was just the secocnd meeting all-time between Quinnipiac and UMass Lowell since the Bobcats joined the Division I ranks in 1998-99. The River Hawks took the first meeiting, a 4-1 decision on Oct. 30, 2008 at Tsongas Arena. Saturday's game will mark the first visit by the River Hawks to High Point Solutions Arena. 

The Bobcats In Their Home Debut
Quinnipiac is 14-0-1 in its first home game of the season since joining the Division I ranks in 1998-99. In 38 varsity seasons since 1975-76, Quinnipiac is 24-11-3. 

Against Ranked Opponents In 2012-13
In 16 games against ranked opponents last season, the Bobcats posted a 15-1-0 record. 

Freshmen First
For the first time in program history, Quinnipiac had three freshman score their first career goal in the same game. Derek Smith (Apple Valley, Minn.), Sam Anas (Potomac, Md.) and Connor Clifton (Matawan, N.J.) all found the back of the net in the Bobcats' 4-1 win against Alaska-Fairbanks on  Saturday, Oct. 12.

Mr. Smith
Freshman Derek Smith (Apple Valley, Minn.) became the first  player in Quinnipiac history to score a goal on the first shot of his college career after giving Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead against Alaska-Fairbanks. Smith added his second career goal, incredibly on his second career shot, against UMass Lowell on Friday, Oct. 18.
