Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey's Michael Garteig Named ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week

Quinnipiac men's ice hockey goalie Michael Garteig was named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, as announced by the league office. 

In a series sweep of No. 9 UMass Lowell, Garteig improved to 3-1-0 on the season. On Friday, Oct. 18, Garteig stopped 21 of UMass Lowell's 22 shots on goal in a 3-1 win at Tsongas Arena. On Saturday, Oct. 19, in the Bobcats' home opener, Garteig stopped 23 of the River Hawks' 24 shots on goal in another 3-1 win.

On Tuesday night, Garteig was in net again for the Bobcats' home tilt against Bentley. Garteig was solid again, earning his fourth straight victory. He improves to 4-1-0 with a 1.81 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.

Quinnipiac returns to action this weekend when it takes on Holy Cross in a two-game series. The Bobcats travel to Worcester, Mass. on Friday, Oct. 25 before hosting the Crusaders on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. at High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center.
