Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey's Sam Anas Named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week

Quinnipiac men's ice hockey freshman stand-out Sam Anas has been named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on Oct. 29, 2013, as announced by the league office. 

Anas led Quinnipiac to a 3-0-0 week with five goals, including two on the power-play, and also two game-winners, while also posting a +3 for the week. He had his first multiple-goal game against Bentley in a 4-3 win before following up with a goal against Holy Cross in a 4-2 victory. Anas led the Bobcats to the series sweep against the Crusaders Saturday with his second two-goal night of the week.

For the year, the first-year Bobcat has six goals in six games as well as two assists for team-high eight points. The last Quinnipiac player to earn ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week honors was Soren Jonzzon (Mountainview, Calif.) on Feb. 12, 2013. 

Quinnipiac opens ECAC Hockey play when it travels to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on Colgate on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at Starr Rink. The Bobcats then face Cornell on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. at Lynah Rink.
