Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Ranked 5th In USCHO.com Division I Poll

The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team was ranked 5th in the USCHO.com Division I poll, as announced on Monday, Dec. 2. The Bobcats are currently 13-2-2 overall and 6-1-1 in ECAC Hockey play.

Quinnipiac is coming off a 3-3 tie against No. 4 Providence on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and a 6-1 win against Massachusetts on Saturday, Nov. 30. Against Providence,  Matthew Peca (Petawawa, Ontario), Devon Toews (Abbotsford, British Columbia) and Sam Anas (Potomac, Md.) all scored, with Anas also picking up an assist. Connor Jones (Montrose, British Columbia) had two assists while goalie Michael Garteig (Prince George, British Columbia) stopped 19 of Providence's 22 shots-on-goal. The Bobcats outshot Providence, 48-22, through three periods and a five-minute overtime. 

On Saturday night against UMass, Quinnipaic shook-off an early UMass goal from Michael Pereira to score six unanswered goals, with three coming on the power play. Kellen Jones (Montrose, British Columbia) led all Bobcats with a goal and two assists while Zach Tolkinen (Lino Lakes, Minn.) set-up Quinnipiac's first three goals for a career-best three-assist night.Sam Anas (Potomac, Md.) and Connor Jones (Montrose, British Columbia) had a goal and an assist each while Travis St. Denis (Trail, British Columbia), Bryce Van Brabant(Morinville, Alberta) and Brayden Sherbinin (Kelowna, British Columbia) also scored in the Bobcats win. 

Quinnipiac jumps back into its ECAC Hockey schedule with games at Union on Dec. 6 and Rensselaer on Dec. 7. The Bobcats then enjoy a break before facing UMass on Dec. 29 at the UConn Hockey Classic.
