Quinnipiac men's ice hockey's Michael Garteig (Prince George, British Columbia) earned his second-straight ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month award while freshman Sam Anas Potomac, Md.) was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month.
October's ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month followed with an impressive November. Garteig was 7-1-2 with a 1.59 GAA and a .917 save percentage. Garteig led all ECAC Hockey goalies for the month of November in wins (7), goals-against-average (1.59), shutouts (3) and minutes played (605:22).
In addition, Garteig became the first goalie in Quinnipiac history to record three shutouts in the same month. In 8 ECAC Hockey games, Garteig was 6-1-1 with a 1.49 GAA with his three shutouts for the month, also an ECAC Hockey best, came against Cornell, Brown and Princeton.
For the month of November, Sam Anas led all ECAC Hockey freshman in goals (6), assists (10) and points (16), as well as power-play goals (2), shots-on-goal (47) and shots-on-goal per game (4.70). In 8 ECAC Hockey games, in which Quinnipiac was 6-1-1, Anas led all freshmen in goals (4), assists (8), points (12), assists per game (1.00), points per game (1.50), power play goals (1), power play assists (3) and power play points (4).
Anas had a five-game point streak to start the month (2g, 6a) and is currently on a four-game point streak which has seen him tally a goal and an assist in each game. For the year, he has totaled 12 goals and 12 assists for a team-high 24 points - good for the national lead for all freshmen while ranking ninth among all skaters.
Quinnipiac jumps back into its ECAC Hockey schedule with games at Union on Dec. 6 and Rensselaer on Dec. 7. The Bobcats then enjoy a break before facing UMass on Dec. 29 at the UConn Hockey Classic.
