Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Ranked 5th In USCHO.com Division I Poll On Feb. 17

The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team was ranked 5th in the latest USCHO.com Division I Poll, as released on Monday, Feb. 17. Quinnipiac split their ECAC Hockey games this weekend, blanking No. 13 Yale, 4-0, before falling to Brown, 4-2, on Saturday. Quinnipiac is currently 21-6-5 overall and 11-4-3 in ECAC Hockey play.

Friday night's game at Yale saw Bobcats captain Cory Hibbeler (St. Charles, Mo.) factor into three of Quinnipiac's four goals with his fifth goal of the year before assisting on goals by Sam Anas (Potomac, Md.) and Tommy Schutt (Chanhassen, Minn.). Quinnipiac also received a marker from Connor Clifton (Matawan, N.J.) as Quinnipiac had three freshman scoring in a game for the first time this season. Michael Garteig (Prince George, British Columbia) was brilliant in goal, stopping all 33 of Yale shots-on-goal for his fifth shutout of the season, tying Eric Hartzell's 2012-13 total for the most in a single-season in Quinnipiac history.

On Saturday night, Anas scored again for the Bobcats, with Kellen Jones (Montrose, British Columbia) providing the other tally. Kellen also had an assist, while Matthew Peca (Petawawa, Ontario), Devon Toews (Abbotsford, British Columbia) and Connor Jones also had assists in the loss.

Quinnipiac returns home next weekend when it hosts Cornell on Friday, Feb. 21 and Colgate on Saturday, Feb. 22, with both games available on New England Sports Network (NESN). Quinnipiac Athletics and High Point Solutions Arena will host Senior Night festivities prior to the start of the Bobcats' tilt against Colgate.
