Seniors Eric Hartzell and Nicole Lewis Named 2013 Quinnipiac Athletes of the Year at Annual Awards Banquet
Quinnipiac University seniors Eric Hartzell (White Bear Lake, Minn.) and Nicole Lewis (East Amherst, N.Y.) were named the Male and Female Athletes of the Year, respectively, at the 2012-13 Quinnipiac University Athletics and Recreation Awards banquet at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.

Men's Lacrosse Falls To Top-Seeded Notre Dame, 7-4, In GWLL Semifinals
Kevin Kelly (Redding, Conn.) scored twice and Kevin Benzing (Severna Park, Md.) made 14 saves, but the fourth-seeded Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team fell to top-seeded and nationally-ranked No. 2 Notre Dame, 7-4, in the Great Western Lacrosse League Tournament Semifinals. With the loss, the Bobcats conclude their season at 4-9, while the Irish remains the lone undefeated team in the nation at 14-0. Notre Dame now advances to the GWLL Championship, to be played Sunday at noon against the winner of tonight's other semifinal game between Air Force and Ohio State.

Men's Lacrosse Faces No. 2 Notre Dame Friday In GWLL Tournament Semifinals
The fourth-seeded Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team travels to Birmingham, Mich., to face top-seeded and nationally-ranked No. 2 Notre Dame in the Great Western Lacrosse League Semifinals Friday. The Bobcats punched their ticket to suburban Detroit with a dramatic 12-11 win at Bellarmine last time out. Meanwhile, the Fighting Irish completed the 2009 regular season with an undefeated record (13-0, 5-0 GWLL), becoming the only team in NCAA Division I to do so. The two teams met on April 18 in Hamden, with the Irish taking a 10-2 win. Quinnipiac also met Notre Dame in last year's GWLL Tournament, a game that was tied in the third quarter before the Irish outlasted the Bobcats, 10-6.

Pat Elliott Selected All-Great Western Lacrosse League
Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse senior defenseman Pat Elliott (Basking Ridge, N.J.) has been named to the All-Great Western Lacrosse League Second Team, the league today announced. Elliott's honor comes a year after former Bobcat and current Quinnipiac assistant coach Drew Maceranka was also named all-league on defense.

Men's Lacrosse Clinches GWLL Tournament Berth With 12-11 Win At Bellarmine
Alex Marotto (South Windsor, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal with 17 seconds remaining as the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team came from behind to defeat Bellarmine, 12-11, Saturday afternoon at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium. With the win, the Bobcats (4-8, 2-3 GWLL) clinched their second straight Great Western Lacrosse League Tournament berth. Fourth-seeded Quinnipiac will face GWLL Regular Season Champion Notre Dame (13-0, 5-0 GWLL) in the semifinals, to be played Friday afternoon at Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Mich. The Knights concluded their season at 6-8 (0-5 GWLL).

Men's Lacrosse Looks To Lock Up GWLL Tournament Berth At Bellarmine
The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team closes the regular season with a chance to lock up its second straight GWLL Tournament berth at Bellarmine. A win would place the Bobcats in the tournament, while a loss would put Quinnipiac in a precarious situation. QU has taken all three meetings with the Knights in the all-time series, winning each of the past three seasons. However, two of the three wins have been one-goal decisions, including a 6-5 victory last season in Hamden. After winning six of its first eight games, Bellarmine has fallen in the last five to drop to 6-7. Four of the losses have come against GWLL foes, accounting for the Knights' 0-4 league mark. Quinnipiac is coming off a 10-2 loss to No. 3 Notre Dame, the lone remaining undefeated team in Division I, while Bellarmine fell at Bryant, 14-4, last time out.

Jack Oppenheimer (Conshohocken, Pa.) scored his team-leading 16th goal of the season and Kevin Kelly (Redding, Conn.) added his 11th, but the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 3 Notre Dame, 10-2, on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 3-8 (1-3 GWLL), while the Fighting Irish remains the nation's lone remaining undefeated team at 11-0 (4-0 GWLL).

Men's Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day Saturday
The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team closes the home portion of the 2009 season when it plays host to Notre Dame, Saturday at 11 a.m. Prior the game, the Bobcats will honor its four-member senior class. The Bobcats are coming off a 12-9 loss, April 11, to intrastate foe Sacred Heart. Meanwhile, the Irish fended off a 5-1 Denver run to defeat the Pioneers, 10-8, at Invesco Field, home of the Denver Broncos.

Quinnipiac Men's Lacrosse Holds "Sticks & Stones To Conquer Prostate Cancer" Fundraiser On April 18
The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team will host 'Sticks & Stones To Conquer Prostate Cancer' on Saturday, April 18, as part of a season-long fundraising campaign to benefit prostate cancer research. The fundraiser will take place in conjunction with the last home game of the year as the squad hosts Notre Dame University at 11 a.m. during Senior Recognition Day. The fundraiser will feature a raffle, as well as sales of Cold Stone Creamery ice cream, T-shirts and wristbands. All proceeds will benefit prostate cancer research. Men's Lacrosse Welcomes Sacred Heart Saturday
The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team play the second in a three-game homestand Saturday, when it welcomes the Sacred Heart Pioneers to Hamden. The Bobcats earned an 11-10 win against the No. 19 Denver Pioneers last time out. Meanwhile, Sacred Heart is coming off a 7-6 loss at Delaware Wednesday. The Bobcats and Pioneers have beaten the then-No. 19 team in the nation in each of the past two weekends. Sacred Heart beat Villanova, 8-7, in five overtimes March 28, before Quinnipiac beat Denver, April 4.

Todd Kaiser Named NEILA Player of the Week
Quinnipiac junior men's lacrosse player Todd Kaiser (Summit, N.J.) has been named the New England Interscholastic Lacrosse Association Player of the Week, the organization today announced. Kaiser scored four goals and added two assists to lead the Bobcats to an 11-10 win against No. 19 Denver Saturday. The win was the first in program history against a nationally-ranked opponent, and helped the Bobcats reclaim the seventh position in the Turfer/NEILA Poll following a five-week hiatus.

Quinnipiac junior men's lacrosse player Todd Kaiser (Summit, N.J.) has been named the Great Western Lacrosse League Player of the Week, the league today announced. Kaiser scored four goals and added two assists to lead the Bobcats to an 11-10 win against No. 19 Denver Saturday. The win was the first in program history against a nationally-ranked opponent.

Men's Lacrosse Earns Come-From-Behind Win Against No. 19 Denver, 11-10
Todd Kaiser (Summit, N.J.) scored four goals and added two assists, while Kevin Benzing (Severna Park, Md.) made 16 saves as the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team came from behind to defeat No. 19 Denver, 11-10, Saturday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. The Bobcats erased a 6-3 halftime deficit with eight of the next nine goals, covering the first 24 minutes of the second half, to earn their first win against a nationally-ranked team in program history. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 3-6 (1-2 GWLL), while the Pioneers fall to 6-5 (1-1 GWLL).

Men's Lacrosse Opens Three-Game Homestand Saturday
The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team returns home Saturday to begin a three-game homestand against Great Western Lacrosse League foe Denver. Quinnipiac is coming off an 8-2 defeat at Ohio State, March 29. Meanwhile, the Pioneers won last time out against Bellarmine, 12-9, in Louisville. Matthews led the way with five goals, while Baxter added three. The Pioneers will be without Jamie Lincoln, Ilija Gajic and Brad Richardson, who were dismissed from the team earlier this week. Lincoln scored six goals against the Bobcats last year, while Gajic had two assists.

Men's Lacrosse Falls At Ohio State, 8-2
Jack Oppenheimer (Conshohocken, Pa.) and Ted Dimond (Marblehead, Mass.) scored goals for the Bobcats, but the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team was defeated by Ohio State, 8-2, in Great Western Lacrosse League action at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium Saturday. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 2-6 (0-2 GWLL), while the Buckeyes improve to 5-4 (1-0 GWLL).

The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team returns to Great Western Lacrosse League action Saturday, when the Bobcats travel to Columbus, Ohio, to take on Ohio State. Quinnipiac is coming off a convincing 15-4 win against Detroit, snapping a five-game losing streak. The Buckeyes have dropped their last two contests, at UMBC, 9-8 (OT), and at Colgate, 9-4. The Buckeyes have defeated Detroit, Bucknell, Fairfield and Robert Morris this season, while also falling to nationally-ranked Navy and Penn State.

Ted Dimond (Marblehead, Mass.) scored three goals and added two assists as the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team defeated Detroit Mercy, 15-4, Sunday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. With the win, the Bobcats snap a five-game losing skid to improve to 2-5, while the Titans drop to 0-7.

The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team plays host to Detroit Mercy, Sunday morning at 11. Bobcat Channel subscribers will be able to access a live video webcast of the game, while WQAQ will provide live audio. The Bobcats are coming off a tough 7-6 loss at Providence, Wednesday. In the program's first season, Detroit is 0-6 this year. Most recently, the Titans fell Friday at Bryant, 15-6.

With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-4 (0-1 GWLL), while the Falcons improve to 3-3 (1-0 GWLL).

The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team plays host to Air Force, Saturday, in its home and Great Western Lacrosse League opener. The Bobcats are coming off a 7-3 loss at No. 18 Brown, while the Falcons lost last time out at Army, 14-9. The Bobcats won an 11-10 overtime thriller last time against Air Force, April 13, in USAFA, Colo. Quinnipiac tied the game with nine seconds left in regulation on a Bill Hayes goal, while Todd Kaiser scored the game-winning goal with 1:40 left in overtime.

The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team travels to Queens, N.Y., Saturday to take on St. John's. The Bobcats won their season opener at Wagner, 13-5 last weekend. St. John's also earned a road victory, 10-5, against Holy Cross, in their first game of the year.

With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-1 on the season, while the Red Storm improves to 2-0.

Ted Dimond (Marblehead, Mass.) scored three goals as the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team opened the 2009 season with a 13-5 win at Wagner, Saturday afternoon. Mike Gast (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Kevin Kelly (Redding, Conn.) also added a pair of goals each as the Bobcats improved to 1-0. The Seahawks, also playing their opener, fell to 0-1.

The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team opens the 2009 campaign at Wagner, Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats are coming off a successful 2008 season in which they qualified for the inaugural Great Western Lacrosse League Tournament and Head Coach Eric Fekete was named GWLL Coach of the Year. The Bobcats finished 8-5 (2-3 GWLL), while the Seahawks were 0-15 (0-8 MAAC).
