Three Bobcats Selected To Play In 2011 NEILA Skor Sports All-Star Game
Three Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse players have been selected to play in the 2011 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Skor Sports All-Star Game, to be played Sunday, June 5 at 2 p.m. at Endicott College. Kevin Benzing (Severna Park, Md.), Christian Haggerty (West Nyack, N.Y.) and Kevin Kelly (Redding, Conn.) were all selected to play in the contest.

Three Bobcats Named NEILA Scholar-Athletes
Three Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse players were named New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Scholar-Athletes, the organization today announced. Senior captains Kevin Benzing (Severna Park, Md.), Christian Haggerty (West Nyack, N.Y.) and Jake Glebocki (Wilbraham, Mass.) were extended the honor, which acknowledges the graduating seniors from their respective schools, who have earned over a 3.0 grade point average and have excelled on the field.

Seniors Christian Haggerty (West Nyack, N.Y.) and Kevin Kelly (Redding, Conn.) scored three goals each, but the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team fell to top-seeded Mount St. Mary's, 14-9, in Sunday's Northeast Conference Championship Game at Waldron Family Stadium. With the loss, the Bobcats end the season at 7-7, while the Mountaineers move to 9-6.

The second-seeded Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team challenges top-seeded Mount St. Mary's in Sunday's Northeast Conference Tournament Championship Game at Waldron Family Stadium. The game is set for a 1 p.m. start. The Bobcats earned a thrilling 12-11 double-overtime victory against No. 3 Robert Morris on Friday evening, while Mount St. Mary's solved No. 4 Bryant, 14-9, in the nightcap. The Mountaineers took the first meeting of the year against QU, 16-10, April 16 in Hamden. The Mount leads the all-time series, 4-1, including a win in the 2001 MAAC Championship Game.

Jack Oppenheimer (Conshohocken, Pa.) scored five goals, including a natural hat trick in the final 2:50 of regulation, and Christian Haggerty (West Nyack, N.Y.) scored a man-down goal in double overtime as the No. 2 Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team defeated third-seeded Robert Morris, 12-11, in the Northeast Conference Tournament Semifinals Friday afternoon at Waldron Family Stadium on the campus of Mount St. Mary's University. The Bobcats move on to Sunday's 1 p.m. NEC Championship Game against the winner of tonight's contest between top-seeded Mount St. Mary's and fourth-seeded Bryant.

Glebocki Headlines Six Men's Lacrosse Players Named All-NEC
Quinnipiac University senior men's lacrosse defenseman Jake Glebocki (Wilbraham, Mass.) led six Bobcats named All-Northeast Conference with a first-team selection, league officials announced Thursday night at its first annual NEC Pre-Tournament Banquet, hosted by Mount St. Mary's. Christian Haggerty (West Nyack, N.Y.), Kevin Kelly (Redding, Conn.), Basil Kostaras (Southlake, Texas) and Matt Minor (South Hadley, Mass.) also earned second-team recognition, while Dylan Webster (Brampton, Ontario) was named to the All-NEC Rookie Team.

Men's Lacrosse Faces Robert Morris In NEC Semifinals Friday In Emmitsburg, Md.
The second-seeded Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team faces third-seeded Robert Morris in the inaugural Northeast Conference Men's Lacrosse Tournament, to be held Friday and Sunday at Mount St. Mary's. Friday's semifinal game against the Colonials is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Waldron Family Stadium. Top-seeded Mount St. Mary's faces No. 4 Bryant in the nightcap at 7 p.m. The Bobcats defeated the Colonials, 19-15, April 9 in Hamden. The meeting was the first in the two programs' histories.

Men's Lacrosse Wins Share of NEC Championship With Win At Wagner, Mount St. Mary's Loss
Basil Kostaras (Southlake, Texas) scored a career-high five goals as the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team defeated Wagner, 16-10, Saturday afternoon at Wagner College Stadium. The win, paired with a Mount St. Mary's double-overtime loss to Bryant, gives the Bobcats (6-6, 4-1 NEC) a share of the 2011 NEC Regular Season Championship, along with the Mountaineers (7-6, 4-1 NEC). By virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker, Mount St. Mary's will take the No. 1 seed and play host to next weekend's NEC Tournament. The Mountaineers will once again take on Bryant, the No. 4 seed, while the Bobcats will face third-seeded Robert Morris, Friday at 4 p.m.

Men's Lacrosse Closes Regular Season At Wagner Saturday
The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team concludes the 2011 regular season with a road tilt at Wagner Saturday. The playoff fates of both teams are already sealed, with the Bobcats locked into the No. 2 seed in the NEC Tournament and the Seahawks eliminated from contention. The Bobcats are coming off an 18-9 victory against Sacred Heart on April 23, while the Seahawks have fallen in each of their 11 games this season, including a 22-5 defeat to league-leading Mount St. Mary's last weekend. The Bobcats lead the all-time series, 7-0, with each win coming by a margin of at least eight goals.

Kevin Benzing, Dylan Webster Earn NEC Weekly Honors
Quinnipiac University senior men's lacrosse goalie Kevin Benzing (Severna Park, Md.) and freshman midfielder Dylan Webster (Brampton, Ontario) have been named the Northeast Conference Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The award is the third of the year for Benzing, while Webster takes the rookie honor for the sixth time in the last eight weeks. The six Rookie of the Week awards are easily the most by an NEC freshman in the two years of the honor, tripling the prior high of two, established by two different players last season and Bryant's Dan Sipperly this season. Benzing's three honors are also the most by any defensive player this season.

Men's Lacrosse Plays Host To Sacred Heart on Senior Day Saturday
The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team plays host to intrastate Northeast Conference rival Sacred Heart Saturday at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. Prior to the game, the Bobcats will honor their 11-member senior class as part of Senior Day ceremonies. The Bobcats are coming off a pair of tough losses to Harvard and Mount St. Mary's, while the Pioneers have also lost two in a row against Mount St. Mary's and Bryant. Sacred Heart owns a 10-5 advantage in the all-time series. After the Pioneers won eight of the first 10 pairings, Quinnipiac has taken three of the last five, including a 13-8 victory last April 27 in Fairfield.

Senior Jack Oppenheimer (Conshohocken, Pa.) tallied a career-high seven points as the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team overwhelmed intrastate Northeast Conference rival Sacred Heart, 18-9, on Senior Day Saturday at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. With the win, the Bobcats (5-6, 3-1 NEC) clinch the No. 2 seed in the Northeast Conference Tournament, to be played May 6-8 at Mount St. Mary's. The Pioneers fall to 4-8 (1-3 NEC).

The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team plays a pivotal Northeast Conference contest against Mount St. Mary's Saturday at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. At stake is the inside track on the NEC regular season championship and the right to play host the NEC Tournament, scheduled for May 6 and 8. Both teams are currently 2-0 in the league, and are the only remaining undefeated teams. The Bobcats fell to Harvard, 14-7, on Tuesday, while the Mountaineers defeated Sacred Heart, 11-7, on April 9. Mount St. Mary's leads the all-time series, 3-1, with the last meeting coming in 2001.

Mount St. Mary's compiled a pair of 5-0 runs in the first half and it was too much for Quinnipiac to overcome as the Mountaineers defeated the Bobcats, 16-10, Saturday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. With the win, the Mountaineers (6-5, 3-0 NEC) take sole possession of first place in the league and the inside track on hosting the Northeast Conference Tournament, slated for May 6-8. The Bobcats fall to 4-6 (2-1 NEC) with the loss.

Men's Lacrosse Gets Final Non-Conference Test Against Harvard Tuesday
The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team gets its final non-conference test of the 2011 regular season when it plays host to Harvard Tuesday. The Bobcats are coming off a pair of tough-fought Northeast Conference victories at Bryant and at home against Robert Morris. After winning five of its first six games, Harvard has dropped three of its next four. The Crimson has fallen at Dartmouth and Albany, as well as a 13-12 home defeat against nationally-ranked No. 5 Cornell this past Saturday in the span. The lone win came against No. 15 UMass, 11-9, on March 29. The Bobcats and Crimson have met twice, both Harvard wins, in 2004 and 2005.

Seeing action in just his second game this season, sophomore Brendan Wilbur (Hingham, Mass.) scored twice, including the game-winning goal as time expired, as the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team erased a four-goal second-half deficit to defeat Bryant, 13-12, Friday night at the Bryant Turf Complex. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 3-4 (1-0 NEC), while the Bulldogs fall to 3-6 (0-1 NEC). The game was the first-ever Northeast Conference men's lacrosse league contest.

The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team travels to Baltimore, Md., on Saturday to face the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. The Bobcats are coming off a heartbreaking 10-9 overtime loss to Hartford this past Saturday. While the Retrievers have fallen in their last four games following a 16-10 season-opening victory against Presbyterian, UMBC has faced stiff competition in national powers Rutgers, North Carolina, Johns Hopkins and Maryland. UMBC has won each of the two games in the all-time series with victories in 2004 and 2005.

Men's Lacrosse Welcomes Intrastate Foe Hartford Saturday
The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team plays host to intrastate foe Hartford Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Bobcats have won their last two games, including a 9-3 victory at Providence this past Saturday. The Hawks saw their two-game winning streak snapped Wednesday at Bucknell when they fell, 7-6. Prior to the loss, the Hawks had defeated Brown, 8-6, and Bellarmine, 14-9. The Hawks took a 10-9 victory against the Bobcats last April 3. The Bobcats squandered a four-goal fourth-quarter lead, before Jack Oppenheimer's would-be game-tying goal was not allowed, being ruled to have come after the final horn.

The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team returns to action Saturday, when it travels to Providence, R.I., to take on Providence College. The Bobcats are coming off a 10-5 victory against Holy Cross in their home opener, while the Friars have registered wins against Wagner and Presbyterian in their first two games. Quinnipiac holds a 6-4 edge in the all-time series, and has won three of the last four meetings. The Bobcats took a 12-2 victory last March 13 in Hamden.

The Bobcats (2-2) held the Friars (2-1) #$%^scoreless in the second half while scoring six goals of their own.

Senior men's lacrosse goalie Kevin Benzing (Severna Park, Md.) and freshman midfielder Dylan Webster (Brampton, Ontario) have been selected the Northeast Conference Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league office today announced. The award is the second of Benzing's career and the first of the year for both players. In addition, Benzing won a pair of weekly honors in the past two years from ECAC Lacrosse and the Great Western Lacrosse League.

With the win, the Bobcats move to 1-2, while the Crusaders fall to 0-3.

The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team begins the 2011 season Saturday, when it travels to Providence, R.I., to take on Brown. The Bobcats are coming off an 8-6 2010 campaign in which they finished 4-3 in ECAC Lacrosse, good for third place. Meanwhile, Brown also finished 8-6 on the 2010 season, including a 4-2 record in the Ivy League. The conference mark was good enough for a four-way tie for the regular-season title along with Cornell, Princeton and Yale.
