Glebocki Headlines Six Men's Lacrosse Players Named All-NEC

EMMITSBURG, Md. - Quinnipiac University senior men's lacrosse defenseman Jake Glebocki (Wilbraham, Mass.) led six Bobcats named All-Northeast Conference with a first-team selection, league officials announced Thursday night at its first annual NEC Pre-Tournament Banquet, hosted by Mount St. Mary's. Christian Haggerty (West Nyack, N.Y.), Kevin Kelly (Redding, Conn.), Basil Kostaras (Southlake, Texas) and Matt Minor (South Hadley, Mass.) also earned second-team recognition, while Dylan Webster (Brampton, Ontario) was named to the All-NEC Rookie Team.

Glebocki has anchored a Bobcats defense that ranks fourth in the nation in caused turnovers per game (10.25), causing a team-best 22 turnovers for an average of 1.8 caused turnovers per game (15th-NCAA). He's also picked up 45 ground balls, good for second on the team. He's also scored one goal this season.

A pair of Quinnipiac midfielders were named to the All-NEC Second Team in Kelly and Kostaras. Kelly leads the Bobcats with 21 goals and 35 points this season, including a five-goal outburst in the Bobcats' 19-15 victory against Robert Morris. Kostaras was second on the team in goals scored with 17, including a career-high five goals last weekend at Wagner.

Haggerty has been one of the Bobcats' most consistent contributors over his two seasons in Hamden, registering a point in each of his 26 games in the blue and gold. This season, he's tallied 16 goals and a team-high 17 assists for 33 points. He's also picked up 20 ground balls.

Minor has proven himself as one of the top close defenders in the league, while adding occasional offensive punch. He's caused eight turnovers and picked up 11 ground balls, while also scoring once and passing out two assists.

Webster won a league-best six NEC Rookie of the Week honors in 2011 on the strength of 14 goals and eight assists in 11 games played. He caused 10 turnovers, picked up 36 ground balls and won 52.7 percent (39-74) of his face-offs.

The second-seeded Bobcats face third-seeded Robert Morris in the NEC Semifinals, Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. The tournament is being hosted by Mount St. Mary's at Waldron Family Stadium in Emmitsburg, Md. The Mountaineers and Bobcats shared the 2011 NEC Regular Season Championship, but Mount St. Mary's took the right to play host to the conference tournament on the strength of the head-to-head tie-breaker.
