HAMDEN, Conn. – Freshman Pat Corcoran (Stratford, Conn.) scored four goals and assisted on another Saturday afternoon, but the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team dropped a Northeast Conference game to Robert Morris, 25-9, at Joe Walton Stadium in Moon Township, Pa. Nonetheless, the Bobcats have clinched the three seed in the upcoming NEC Tournament, set to begin on Friday, May 4.

Quinnipiac, now 3-9 overall and 2-2 in league play, received a career performance out of Corcoran, as the Stratford, Conn. native connected on four of his five shot attempts. Brendan Wilbur (Hingham, Mass.) continued his hot streak with a pair of goals and an assist, while Michael Sagl (West Islip, N.Y.), Brandon Kuring (New Milford, Conn.) and Steve Bryant (Millersville, Md.) each registered one apiece. Sagl added a team-high three assists.

The Bobcats went toe-to-toe with the NEC's top ranked offense in the first quarter, exchanging goals through the first 12 minutes. However, with the score knotted at 4-4, Robert Morris scored eight of the game's next 11 goals to close out the opening stanza for a 12-7 advantage at halftime.

After the break, the third quarter proved to be the difference, where the Colonials outscored the Bobcats, 7-0, in the frame. The stretch consisted of 10 straight goals by RMU's high powered offense, providing an insurmountable mountain for QU to climb. The Bobcats mustered two goals in the final 15 minutes of play, concluding their scoring summary on the afternoon.

Dave Morton led the Colonials with six goals, who improved to 10-3 and 4-0 in the NEC. RMU and Bryant will face off next weekend to determine the #1 seed of the conference tournament.

Dylan Torey (Darien, Conn.) posted six saves in the losing effort between the pipes. Chris Coppolecchia (Somers, N.Y.) caused three turnovers, maintaining his nation-leading average of three per game.

Robert Morris outshot Quinnipiac, 48-26, and controlled the face-offs, 21-17. The Bobcats turned the ball over 21 times in the contest.

The Bobcats return to the turf next Saturday with the regular-season finale at Sacred Heart. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Fairfield, Conn. For all the latest news and information regarding the men's lacrosse program, please visit
