HAMDEN, Conn. – Junior Basil Kostaras (Southlake, Texas) of the Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team was named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division I All-New England Second Team, announced on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. The NEILA Awards are nominated and selected by representatives from programs within the association.
Kostaras, a 2011 Northeast Conference Second Team honoree, anchored the Bobcats' midfield this past season. Despite missing some time with an injury, he finished second on the team in assists (8), third in goals scored (15) and fourth in total points (23). He also added nine ground balls and one caused turnover in 13 appearances. Kostaras' campaign was highlighted by a hat trick in the opening quarter of the season. He went on to record four multiple-point games, including three four-point outings.
Kostaras picked up his 40th career goal in the NEC Semifinals, moving him into 20th place on Quinnipiac's all-time list. Furthermore, he is five assists away (23) and two points away (63) from cracking top 20 in those categories as well.
