HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team made its way into the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Coaches' Poll on Tuesday afternoon, as the Bobcats claimed the fifth spot in the weekly census. Junior Gill Conners (Ballston, N.Y.) played a key role in Quinnipiac's season-opening win at Brown and earned NEILA Player of the Week honors as well.

The Bobcats opened the 2013 season in dramatic fashion, using a fourth-quarter comeback to defeat the Bears for the first time in the history of the rivalry. Conners posted 20 saves in Quinnipiac's 9-7 win, making three stops in the first quarter and six in second. After the break, he matched his second quarter output with six more in the third before capping the game with five in the fourth, including one with just 31 ticks to play. He also nabbed three ground balls in the win. The 20 saves are the most by a Quinnipiac goalie since the 2004 campaign.
Offensively, Brendan Wilbur (Hingham, Mass.), one of three Bobcats to finish with multiple points on Saturday, led the Bobcats with three goals, caused three turnovers and picked up a ground ball in the win. Dylan Webster (Brampton, Ontario) chipped in with three points at the strength of two goals and an assist, which featured two huge goals in the final quarter. He added a team-best 10 ground balls and was 12-of-19 on the faceoff. Michael Sagl (West Islip, N.Y.) picked up right where he left off last year with two goals and an assist, while Matt Diehl (Towson, Md.) and Pat Mulligan (Stratford, Conn.) each added a goal.
The Bobcats are back in action on Saturday, March 2nd at Detroit Mercy. Faceoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Titan Field in Detroit.
