Men's Soccer Ranked Second In NSCAA/adidas North Atlantic Region

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team landed in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Regional Rankings this week. The Bobcats are ranked second in the North Atlantic Region after defeating Canisius Saturday afternoon, 3-2.

The Bobcats' 3-0-1 record puts Quinnipiac in first place in the Northeast Conference and second in the North Atlantic Region behind Loyola (Md.). Quinnipiac has moved up two spots, jumping up from fourth last week to the second spot in the most recent rankings.

Against Canisius Shane Recklet (Shelton, Conn.) scored two goals, including the game winner in the 73rd minute against the Griffins in Buffalo, N.Y. He now has all three of the team's game-winning goals this season. Recklet and Graciano Brito (Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde) are tied for second in the NEC in goals with four apiece. Pierre Soubrier (Aurignac, France) is also tied for the conference lead in assists with three. Durval Pereira's (Cheshire, Conn.) goal in the 25th minute against Canisius was his second in as many games.

Quinnipiac returns to action on Friday, Sept. 19 when they travel to Loudonville, N.Y. to take on Siena College at 4:00 p.m.
