LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team tied Siena College, 0-0, Friday afternoon. Freddy Hall (St. George, Bermuda) recorded his second shutout of the season in the Bobcats' second tie this year. Quinnipiac now stands at 3-0-2 this season, while Siena improves to 1-3-1.
Graciano Brito (Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde) and Durval Pereira (Cheshire, Conn.) each had three shots attempted in the game. The Bobcats managed three shots on goal against the Saints as Siena goalkeeper Steve Skonieczny picked up his second shutout of 2008.
This is the first time the Bobcats have been held scoreless since their final game last season with Long Island, also a 0-0 tie. Hall did not have to make a save in earning the shutout as the Saints were not able to record a shot on goal.
"We played well enough to win," said Head Coach Eric Da Costa. "We controlled the game and had the opportunities, but we could not score. Siena played very well defensively in their end and kept us from getting the winner."
The Bobcats resume action, Tuesday, Sept. 23, as they play host to Yale. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
