Men's Soccer Ties Robert Morris, 1-1

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Shane Recklet (Shelton, Conn.) scored his fifth goal of the season in the 80th minute as the Quinnipiac University men's soccer team tied Robert Morris, 1-1, Friday afternoon. The tie is the first in Northeast Conference play this season for Quinnipiac as the Bobcats' mark now stands at 3-2-1 and 8-4-3 overall. The Colonials remain winless in the NEC at 0-5-1 and 2-12-3 overall.

Robert Morris' Matt Sheibley scored in the fifth minute to give the Colonials an early 1-0 lead. Tyler Stanley made a diagonal pass up to Sheibley on the right side where he moved into the box and ripped a shot into the far corner of the net.

The Bobcats' defense kept the Colonials off the board for the rest of the game, allowing just six shot attempts. Quinnipiac goalkeeper Freddy Hall (St. George, Bermuda) was not tested again with a shot on goal until the second half and again in the second overtime.

Recklet's goal tied the game with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Graciano Brito (Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde) settled the ball inside the top of the 18-yard box and pushed the ball ahead to Recklet. The junior co-captain touched his shot into the back of the net past Colonials goalkeeper Matt Felice.

The Bobcats put six shots on goal in both overtime periods, but were unable to get anything past Felice as the ended in a 1-1 tie. Hall stopped two shots in the game, while Felice recorded 14 saves.

"We played well," Head Coach Eric Da Costa said. "It's just one of those games. We gave up an early goal and came back to tie it. We had a ton of opportunities; we just couldn't get that second goal."

The Bobcats return to action again on Sunday, Nov. 1, when they travel to Loretta, Pa. to take on Saint Francis (Pa.). The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
