Graciano Brito Named Brine/NEC Player Of The Week

HAMDEN, Conn. – Graciano Brito (Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde) was named the Brine/Northeast Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season, as announced by the conference office today. Brito scored two goals in Sunday's 2-0 win against Saint Francis (Pa.) and recorded an assist in Friday's 1-1 tie with Robert Morris. Brito leads the nation in points per game (2.19) and goals per game (1.0) and is second in goals (16).

The senior forward scored both Bobcats goals in the win against the Red Flash. His first goal came in the 57th minute of the game after picking up a free ball from goalkeeper Freddy Hall (St. George, Bermuda). Brito split two defenders and broke in on goal before firing home his 15th goal of the season.

Brito scored his second of the game and 16th of the season with 13 seconds remaining in the game. He beat the oncoming Saint Francis (Pa.) goalkeeper into the middle of the net.

Against the Colonials, Brito picked up his third assist of the season on Shane Recklet's (Shelton, Conn.) game-tying goal in the 80th minute. Brito made a quick pass through the center of the box to a waiting Recklet at the far post for the touch goal.

Brito's 35 points this season lead the NEC and are good for second in the nation behind Akron's Steve Zakuani's 39. For his career, Brito has 38 goals and 88 points, both Quinnipiac Division I records.

"This is another accolade in a long list of achievements for Graciano," said Head Coach Eric Da Costa. "He and his teammates work extremely hard and it's nice to be validated with honors like this one."

The Bobcats return to action on Friday, Nov. 7, when they host Monmouth at the Quinnipiac Soccer Field at 3 p.m.
