Scouting Stony Brook
The Seawolves
welcome Quinnipiac to Stony Brook amidst a four-game unbeaten
streak (3-0-1) dating back to Sept. 12. This streak comes directly
after Stony Brook endured a tough four-game losing streak. The
Seawolves last played on Sept. 24 against Harvard and tied the
Crimson, 1-1. Stony Brook's potent offense (14 goals in nine games
played) is led by sophomore forward Berian Gobeil (three goals, one
assist) and sophomore midfielder Fernandes Leonardo (three goals).
Quinnipiac will not focus on these two players alone, as nine
different Seawolves have registered at least one point on the
season. Sophomore goalkeeper Stefan Manz (4-2-1) leads the
Seawolves defensively, as he has allowed just four goals in the
team's last four games.
All-Time against the Seawolves
Sunday's
non-conference game will be the third time the two squads have
faced each other. Quinnipiac is 1-0-1 all time against Stony Brook.
The last meeting between the two teams was on Sept. 23, 2009 in
which the two teams tied 1-1.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac tied
Yale, 0-0, on Sept. 21 on its home field in Hamden, Conn. The
Bobcats were the aggressors through most of the contest, as they
registered 17 shots compared to Yale's nine.
Lavallee Earns Clean Sheet
Sophomore
goalkeeper Josh Lavallee (Upland, Calif.) picked up his first
shutout of the season in his second start for the Bobcats. In his
two starts, Lavallee has allowed one goal while making eight saves
for a .889 save percentage. Lavallee comes to Quinnipiac after he
played his freshman season for the University of Dayton Flyers
where he compiled a 5-1-1 record. He led the team in both save
percentage (.837) and goals against average (0.94).
Conference Play Begins
Quinnipiac returns
home on Friday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. to play its first conference game
of the year against Monmouth in a rematch of the 2009 Northeast
Conference Championship game. The Bobcats also host NEC conference
opponent Mount St. Mary's on Sunday, Sept. 3. at 12 p.m.
