The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team travels to Brooklyn,
N.Y. to play its final Northeast Conference regular-season road
games against Saint Francis (N.Y.) on Friday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. and
Long Island University on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m.

About Saint Francis (N.Y.)
Saint Francis (N.Y.) is coming of a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat
against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sunday, Oct. 24. The game-winning
goal was scored in the 89th minute of play to extend the Terriers
losing streak to three games. Saint Francis (N.Y.) is led by senior
forward John Sallhag who has scored a team-high eight goals on the
year. Sophomore midfielder Adam Maabdi leads the team with five
assists and is second on the team in points with nine. The Terriers
look towards junior goalkeeper Curtis Julien to protect the net, as
he has compiled a .730 save percentage for a 1.45 goals-against
average.
All-Time Against The Terriers
Friday's contest will be the 13th time the two teams will have
played each other. In their last meeting on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009,
Quinnipiac defeated Saint Francis (N.Y) in penalty kicks to advance
to the NEC Championship Game against Monmouth. Sophomore forward Durval
Pereira (Cheshire, Conn.) scored Quinnipiac's lone goal in
regulation to send the game into overtime. Senior defender Shane
Recklet (Shelton, Conn.) punched Quinnipiac's ticket into the
championship game on his goal in the final round of penalty
kicks.
About Long Island University
Long Island welcomes Quinnipiac to Brooklyn after enduring a 1-0
loss against Robert Morris on Sunday, Oct. 24 in Moon Township, Pa.
The Blackbirds are led by sophomore forward Jakeem Johnson who has
five goals and one assist on the season. Senior forward Juan Lanza
is tied for second on the team in points with eight (three goals,
two assists). Junior forward Steve Jakubowski leads the team with
six assists on the year. In goal for the Blackbirds is junior
goalkeeper Adam Janssen. He has compiled a .743 save percentage to
go along with his 1.55 goals-against average.
All-Time Against The Blackbirds
Sunday's game will be the 12th time the two teams will have faced
each other. Last season on October 23, 2009, the Bobcats defeated
the Blackbirds, 1-0, on a goal from sophomore forward Durval
Pereira (Cheshire, Conn.) in the 85th minute of play. With the
tie, Quinnipiac maintained its undefeated conference record of
5-0-1.
Last Time Out
In its last match, Quinnipiac lost in overtime to conference
opponent Fairleigh Dickinson, 1-0, on Sunday, Oct. 24. Fairleigh
Dickinson's freshman goalkeeper Jacob Lissek stifled the Bobcats
offense, as he turned away eight shots on the afternoon.
Wing Threat
Senior forward Dominic
Adams (John Dial, Trinidad and Tobago) collected two assists on
Friday, Oct. 22 against Sacred Heart in a 2-0 victory. Both assist
came off great individual efforts as he blew by his defender down
the sideline and laced a cross into the box which resulted in two
separate goals from sophomore forward Philip
Suprise (Milwaukee, Wis.) and sophomore defender William
Cavallo (Londonderry, N.H.).
A Look Ahead
Quinnipiac will host its final two regular-season games on Friday,
Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. against Central Connecticut State and Sunday, Nov
7 at 1 p.m. against Monmouth University.
