Northeast Conference Men's Soccer Standings 

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's soccer team was defeated by Northeast Conference opponent Sacred Heart, 3-0, on Friday evening in Fairfield, Conn. The loss drops Quinnipiac's NEC record to 4-5 (6-9 overall), while Sacred Heart improves to 5-1-3 in NEC action and 9-4-4 overall.

Sacred Heart jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on junior Justin Brewer's tally in the 10th minute of play. Brewer received a pass from fellow junior Brian Francolini and drove it past freshman goalkeeper Borja Angoitia (Bilbao, Spain).

The Pioneers extended their lead to two goals on sophomore Omer Levy's goal in the 35th minute of action. Levy received a cross from junior Marcello Castro off a free kick and scored his second goal of the season.

Sacred Heart netted its final goal of the game in the 70th minute, as Marcelo Simoes scored his second goal of the season off a free kick strike.

Angoitia turned away three shots in the contest before giving way to junior goalkeeper Josh Lavallee (Upland, Calif.) who made one save. Senior goalkeeper Alex Fait made three saves in goal for the Pioneers.

The Bobcats were led by junior Philip Suprise's (Milwaukee, Wisc.) seven shots on the evening. Overall, Sacred Heart owned a slim 14-to-12 shot advantage, as well as a 4-to-2 corner kick advantage.

Quinnipiac returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 6 when it hosts St. Francis (N.Y.) in its final contest of the regular season. Prior to the game, Quinnipiac will honor its four graduating seniors with an on-field ceremony.
