The Quinnipiac men's soccer team will face non-conference opponent Yale under the lights at Reese Stadium on Friday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 1-0 loss against Lehigh on Sunday, Sept. 4, suffering their first loss of the season. Yale opened the season with a 2-0 victory over Central Connecticut on Friday, Sept. 4, in which sophomore Max MacKiernan and freshman Max Morice each tallied a goal. The Bulldogs, which saw only ten goals from its offense all of last season, will look towards seniors Brad Rose (16 points in 2009) and Aden Farina-Henry (All-Ivy honorable mention in 2009) to return to form. In goal for Yale is junior goalkeeper Bobby Thalman who has made 14 saves for a .933 save percentage and a .50 goals against average.
All-Time Against The Bulldogs
Friday's contest will be the ninth time the two sides face each other, as Yale leads the series with a 6-0-2 all-time record. The two teams played to a 0-0 double overtime draw the last time they met on September 29, 2010. The Bobcats' best chance to score in the contest came when sophomore defender William Cavallo's (Londonderry, N.H.) shot towards the end of the first-half struck the crossbar. Sophomore goalkeeper Josh Lavallee (Upland, Calif.) made three saves in the game for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats' scheduled contest against Vermont on Monday, Sept. 5 was cancelled due to unplayable field conditions. No rescheduled date has been announced.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac last took the field on Thursday, Sept. 1 when it fell to No.16 Boston College, 5-0. The Bobcats held the Eagles to just one goal in the first-half, but were unable to contain the potent offense in the second half, allowing four goals. Senior Durval Pereira (Cheshire, Conn.) and freshman Nils von der Heide (Munich, Germany) each took a team-high three shots for Quinnipiac.
In the Bobcats' first game of the season on Monday, Sept. 29 against Providence, freshmen Matthew Donovan (Holliston, Mass.), Ola Ogonjobi (London, England) and von der Heide combined to take five of Quinnipiac's 11 shots on the afternoon. Donovan's opportunity came just over six minutes into the first half, as his strike from just outside the penalty box hit the post and deflected away. Von der Heide provided Quinnipiac with its first goal of the season when his header in the 24th minute gave the Bobcats an early 1-0 lead. Ogonjobi had Quinnipiac's last attempt at an equalizer, firing an off-balance shot inside the box in the 87th minute.
Quinnipiac begins a three-game home stand with a game against Hartford on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. The Bobcats then host Loyola (Md.) on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. followed by their first NEC game of the season against Bryant on Friday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m.
The Bobcats travel to NJIT on Sunday, Oct. 2 to play their last remaining non-conference game of the season. Quinnipiac then hosts St. Francis (Pa.) on Friday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m., followed by a matchup against Robert Morris on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. Quinnipiac then begins its longest stretch of road contests, beginning with Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m., followed by Monmouth on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m., Mount St. Mary's on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. and Central Connecticut on Friday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m.
Quinnipiac hosts Long Island on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m. before visiting Sacred Heart on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. The Bobcats will play their final regular-season on their home field when they host St. Francis (N.Y.) on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
