QU Soccer Field - Hamden, Conn.
Let's Break The Tie
The Quinnipiac University men's soccer team (5-5-2, 3-1-1 NEC) has worked itself into a three-way with Monmouth and Central Connecticut State for second in the Northeast Conference standings. Along with some help of course, the Bobcats look to surge into first with a second-consecutive win on Sunday, October 21 against Mount St. Mary's at the QU Soccer Field. The Bobcats host the Mountaineers at 1 p.m.
All-Time Against Mount St. Mary's
The Mountaineers have fared well in the all-time series dating back to the inaugural meeting when QU first joined NCAA Division I. However, playing at home could prove advantageous for the Bobcats against MSM. Two wins and the lone tie come when the two teams square off at the QU Soccer Field.
Scouting the Mountaineers
Entering this weekend, Mount St. Mary's resides in last place in the Northeast Conference standings. Sitting at 3-9, 1-4 in the NEC, the Mountaineers endure a two-game road trip featuring match-ups with CCSU on Friday, and then QU on Sunday – two teams currently tied for second in the NEC. Offensively and defensively, the Mountaineers have struggled thus far and rank in the NEC's bottom two for both categories. Zoncher Dennis and Mark Plaisance lead the attack with three goals and one assist apiece for a team-leading seven points.
Last Time Against Monmouth
Quinnipiac suffered a heart-breaking loss in double-overtime last season, when a header from Jimmy Ockford snuck by Borja Angoitia for the game-winning goal. The Bobcats received a goal from Philip Suprise in just the second minute of play – the fastest goal after the initial whistle of the 2011 season.
