Five Men's Tennis Players Earn All-NEC Honors
Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) was named to the All-Northeast Conference First Team in both singles and doubles to headline five Quinnipiac University men's tennis players named all-league, the NEC office today announced. Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.) also earned all-conference recognition in singles, while James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.), Tom Curran (Fairfield, Conn.) and Joe Nuara (Little Silver, N.J.) took doubles accolades.

Men's Tennis Signs Andrew Weeden To NLI
Quinnipiac University Men's and Women's Tennis Head Coach Mike Quitko has announced the signing of three-star recruit Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) to a National Letter of Intent. Weeden will join the Bobcats for the 2009-10 academic year.

Men's Tennis Falls To Sacred Heart In NEC Semifinals, 4-2
Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) was a double winner, but the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team was defeated by second-seeded Sacred Heart, 4-2, in NEC Semifinal action Saturday afternoon at the Mercer County Tennis Center. The Bobcats conclude their season at 9-7, while the Pioneers (13-8) move on to the NEC Championship Match, where they'll face No. 4 Monmouth. The Hawks upset top-seeded and two-time defending champion Fairleigh Dickinson, 4-2, Saturday.

Men's Tennis Advances To NEC Semifinals With 4-0 Win Against Mount St. Mary's
John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.) and Charlie Feldman (Easton, Conn.) were both double winners as the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team defeated No. 6 Mount St. Mary's, 4-0, Friday afternoon in NEC Tournament Quarterfinal action at Mercer County Park. With the win, the Bobcats (9-6) advance to the semifinals, where they'll face second-seeded Sacred Heart.

Brian Mikkelson Named NEC Player of the Week
Quinnipiac University sophomore men's tennis player Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) has been named Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office today announced. Mikkelson went an undefeated 4-0 during the past week, winning twice each in singles and doubles. Mikkelson led the Bobcats to a 7-0 sweep of Lafayette and won twice as the Bobcats became the first team to take three points from undefeated Fairfield (12-0). The award is the first of the year for Mikkelson and the fourth of his career.

STORRS, Conn. ? James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) won twice, but the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team was edged by Connecticut, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon. John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.) and Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.) also earned singles wins, while Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) paired with Kwei to take a doubles win. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 6-4, while the Huskies improve to 7-4.

The Leopards fell to 4-6.

Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) and James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) were both double winners, but the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team was edged by undefeated Fairfield, 4-3, Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 5-3, while the Stags improve to 10-0. The Bobcats became the first team to take three points from the Stags this season and came just a doubles tie-breaker away from putting the first mark in Fairfield's loss column.

Quinnipiac University junior tennis players Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.) and Charlie Feldman (Easton, Conn.) were both named Northeast Conference Player of the Week, the league office today announced. Wilson went 3-1 this week, while Feldman won twice in the team's Maryland road trip.

Quinnipiac University freshmen tennis players Natalie Duckor (North Tustin, Calif.) and Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.) were both named Northeast Conference Player of the Week, the league office today announced. Duckor went 3-0 in singles last week, while Lane remained unbeaten in the spring season, winning his eighth straight match.

Garrett Lane Named NEC Men's Tennis Player of the Month
Quinnipiac University freshman men's tennis player Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.) has been named Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Month, the league office today announced. Lane went an undefeated 7-0 during February, winning all four of his singles matches and three consecutive doubles matches. Lane led the Bobcats to a 3-1 record for the month.

Quinnipiac University junior men's tennis player John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.) has been named Northeast Conference Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league office announced Tuesday. Hughes won the top singles flight at this past weekend's Quinnipiac Invitational a week after winning the No. 1 singles and doubles flights at the Bucknell Invitational. The award is the fifth of Hughes' career and signifies the third straight week that a Bobcat has been recognized.

LEWISBURG, Pa. ? Quinnipiac junior men's tennis players John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.) and Charlie Feldman (Easton, Conn.) won two championships apiece at this weekend's Bucknell Invitational. In all, the Bobcats earned seven championships, going 27-9 with a 19-5 singles record and an 8-4 mark in doubles. Hughes and Feldman paired to win the top doubles flight, while Hughes also earned the No. 1 singles championship. Feldman earned his singles title at No. 7.

Q&A: Tennis Coach Mike Quitko
QuinnipiacBobcats.com recently sat down for a Q&A with the affable and quick-witted Mike Quitko, the head coach of the men's and women's tennis teams. Quitko had just returned from the NCAA Tournament at the University of Miami after the women's team captured its fifth consecutive Northeast Conference Championship. The men's tennis team has also taken home three NEC Championships in the last five years.

The Quinnipiac University women's tennis team has been named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team for the ninth time in head coach Michael Quitko's 17 years, the organization today announced. In addition, Nicole Adams (New Windsor, N.Y.), Kasey Rosenberger (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Ali Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.), along with Scott Salway (Glastonbury, Conn.) from the men's team, were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
