John Hughes Falls In Round of 32 At ITA Northeast Regional

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University junior men's tennis player John Hughes' (Springfield, Mass.) run at the ITA Northeast Regional ended Sunday afternoon, as the two-time reigning NEC Player of the Week fell to Penn State's Brendan Lynch. The second-seeded player in the tournament, Lynch defeated Hughes, 6-1, 6-3, in the Round of 32 at Yale.

"It was one of the longest, two-set, 6-1, 6-3, matches I've ever seen," said coach Mike Quitko. "I thought John played very well against an extremely tough opponent. I'm sure John will take something away from this match so that he benefits from this outcome."

The Bobcats conclude their fall season next weekend, when they take part in the Connecticut Collegiate Championships at Yale.
