UConn Edges Men's Tennis, 4-3

STORRS, Conn. – James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) won twice, but the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team was edged by Connecticut, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon. John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.) and Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.) also earned singles wins, while Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) paired with Kwei to take a doubles win. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 6-4, while the Huskies improve to 7-4.

Kwei and Mikkelson beat Joe Goldstein and Ben Schueler, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles, before Kwei defeated Scott Warden, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 4 singles. Hughes defeated Goldstein at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1, while Lane beat Joey Michaels, 6-4, 6-4.

The Bobcats return to action Thursday, when they face intrastate NEC foe Sacred Heart. Matches are set to begin at 2 p.m. in Fairfield.
