Men's Tennis Falls To Stony Brook, 7-0

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University men's tennis team fell to Stony Brook, 7-0, in its final tune-up for this weekend's Northeast Conference Tournament, Tuesday afternoon on the Quinnipiac Outdoor Tennis Courts. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 8-6, while the Seawolves improve to 13-4.

Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) and James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) were defeated by Halvar Dil and Ivan Rummel, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles. Mikkelson then fell to Rummel, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.

John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.) and Dillon Kraus (Bayside, N.Y.) were defeated by Jon Epstein and Ilan Shvartz, 8-5, at No. 2 doubles. Dil then beat Hughes, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.

Mitch Wong and Youssef Fassi-Fehri defeated Tom Curran (Fairfield, Conn.) and Joe Nuara (Little Silver, N.J.), 8-5, at No. 3 doubles. Curran then fell to Bertrand Marcos, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 5 singles, while Nuara fell to Shvartz, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 6.

In other singles results, Fassi-Fehri defeated Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.), 6-1, 6-4, at No. 3, while Epstein beat Charlie Feldman (Easton, Conn.), 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4.

The third-seeded Bobcats return to action Friday, when they play No. 6 Mount St. Mary's in the Northeast Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. The match is scheduled to begin after 2 p.m.
