Five Men's Tennis Players Earn All-NEC Honors

HAMDEN, Conn. – Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) was named to the All-Northeast Conference First Team in both singles and doubles to headline five Quinnipiac University men's tennis players named all-league, the NEC office today announced. Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.) also earned all-conference recognition in singles, while James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.), Tom Curran (Fairfield, Conn.) and Joe Nuara (Little Silver, N.J.) took doubles accolades.

Mikkelson won 15 singles matches, including 12 in dual-match play at No. 2. He also played a part in 18 doubles victories to total 33 wins this season. Pairing with Kwei in the spring season, the duo won 10 dual matches, including a 4-0 mark against NEC opponents, en route to first-team honors at No. 1 doubles.

Lane won 15 matches, playing out of the No. 3 position, to earn second-team recognition. He won his first eight matches of the spring, earning NEC Player of the Month for February, and NEC Player of the Week on March 10. He was 2-2 against NEC opponents.

Curran and Nuara won 14 matches together, including a 4-2 mark at No. 3 doubles to earn second-team honors. The duo won three of four matches against conference foes.
