As a sophomore:
Earned All-NEC recognition for the second straight year in singles,
taking First Team honors at No. 4 following a late-season return to
the line-up ... Won seven of 10 singles matches completed,
including victories in each of the Bobcats' NEC Tournament
victories ... Avenged his only loss to an NEC opponent, FDU's Yuri
Gricheno in three sets on March 31, defeating Gricheno easily in
straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, in the NEC Semifinals on April 17 ... Drew
the Bobcats even at 3-3 with Sacred Heart in the NEC Tournament
Championship, defeating Nick Mazzarese, 6-4, 7-6, at No. 4 ... Also
earned a victory with Brian Mikkelson at No. 1 doubles against
Bryant's Juan Paredes and Nicholai Hill on March
28.
As a freshman:
Named to the All-NEC Second Team at No. 3 singles after posting a
15-7 singles mark, including an 11-4 record in dual matches, as a
freshman...earned NEC Player of the Month honors for February after
going an undefeated 7-0, including a 4-0 singles mark, in the
month...stayed hot in early March with a 6-0, 6-3 win against
Hartford's Aneil Bhalla to earn NEC Player of the Week honors on
3/10...rebounded from his first loss of the spring, 3/11, to UMBC's
Chris Meyer, to win six straight matches.
Before Quinnipiac:
A four-star recruit out of The Pingree (Mass.) School ... ranked
second on the tennisrecruiting.net list of the top seniors/grads in
New England ... also ranked as the top senior in Massachusetts and
No. 112 in the country among seniors/grads, according to
tennisrecruiting.net ... the USTA ranked Lane as highly as No. 4 in
New England and No. 195 in the combined national rankings among
players age 18 and under ... ranked as highly as No. 7 in New
England by the USTA in doubles ... a league all-star every year of
his career ... three-time league and team MVP, as well as a member
of the Boston Globe (three-times) and Salem News
All-Scholastic teams ... Massachusetts North Shore Player of the
Year in 2007 ... led Pingree to Class C New England Championships
in 2005 and 2008 ... also ran cross country all four years of high
school.
