Men's Tennis Earns Road Victory At Villanova, 5-2

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) earned a double win and the Bobcats took a pair of 9-8 victories in doubles as the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team defeated Villanova, 5-2, Wednesday afternoon at the Villanova Tennis Complex. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 4-0, while the Wildcats fell to 2-12.

Mikkelson paired with James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) to edge Alex Leeser and David Shaheen, 9-8, at No. 1 doubles, before defeating Leeser, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 1 singles. The singles victory over Leeser clinched the match for the Bobcats.

Charlie Feldman (Easton, Conn.) paired with Dillon Kraus (Bayside, N.Y.) to defeat Trenton Alenik and Connor Witty at No. 3 doubles, 9-8, to give the Bobcats the doubles point.

John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.) defeated Shaheen, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 2 singles, while Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) took care of Witty, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3 singles.

Freshman Chris Nelson (Scituate, Mass.) rounded out the Bobcats' scoring with a 6-0, 6-7, 11-9 victory over John Drosick at No. 6 singles.

Kwei battled, but fell to Alex Hanno, 6-4, 4-6, 10-5, at No. 4 singles, while Feldman was defeated by Alenik, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 5.

The Bobcats return to action Friday night, when they travel to Cambridge, Mass. to take on Harvard. Matches are set to begin at 8 p.m. on the Murr Center Tennis Courts.
