Men's Tennis Upsets FDU, 4-2, To Reach NEC Championship Match
James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) clinched the third-seeded Quinnipiac University men's tennis team's 4-2 victory against second-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson with the 100th victory of his collegiate career in the Northeast Conference Tournament Semifinals. The Bobcats took the doubles point and wins at Nos. 1, 3 and 6 singles to punch their ticket to the NEC Tournament Championship match against intrastate rival Sacred Heart.

Sacred Heart Defeats Men's Tennis In NEC Championship Match, 4-1
James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) earned a double win, but the third-seeded Quinnipiac University men's tennis team was defeated by top-seeded Sacred Heart, 4-1, Sunday afternoon at the Mercer County Tennis Center. With the loss, the Bobcats end their season at 8-13 (3-4 NEC), while the Pioneers (16-7, 8-2 NEC) move on to the NCAA Tournament.

Men's Tennis Defeats Mount St. Mary's 4-0, In NEC Quarterfinals
Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) and James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) earned double wins as the third-seeded Quinnipiac University men's tennis team defeated No. 6 Mount St. Mary's, 4-0, Friday afternoon in the Northeast Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at Mercer County Park. With the win, the Bobcats (7-12, 2-3 NEC) move on to the NEC Semifinals, where they'll meet second-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson for the second straight year. First serve is slated for Saturday after 11:30 a.m. The Mount ends its season at 7-12 (1-4 NEC).

NEC Tournament Semifinals Moved Indoors, Start Times Adjusted
The start times of the Quinnipiac University men's and women's tennis teams' Northeast Conference Tournament semifinal matches have been adjusted to accommodate court availability indoors due to inclement weather. The men's match against Fairleigh Dickinson is scheduled to start after 2:30 p.m., while the women's match against Sacred Heart will start after 5 p.m. at the Mercer County Tennis Center.

Men's Tennis Earns Dramatic Come-From-Behind 4-3 Victory At Monmouth
Chris Nelson (Scituate, Mass.) pulled out a three-set victory at No. 5 singles to clinch the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team's dramatic come-from-behind 4-3 victory at Monmouth Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats trailed 3-0, having lost the doubles point and straight-sets decisions at Nos. 3 and 4 singles. But the Bobcats got four wins in the remaining four flights, including three three-set victories, to earn the win. Quinnipiac is now 6-12 (1-3 NEC), while the Hawks fall to 6-10 (0-3 NEC).

Quinnipiac University sophomore men's tennis player Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) and freshman Corey Morgenstern (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) have been named the Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league office today announced. The award is the first of the year for both players, and the second of Weeden's career. Weeden and Morgenstern were both double winners as the Bobcats swept the University of Hartford on Sunday.

James Kwei Earns NEC Men's Tennis Player of the Month
Quinnipiac University men's tennis junior James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) has been named the Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Month for February, the conference office has announced. Kwei, who was an all-NEC first team selection at No. 5 singles last year, has moved into the top half of the Bobcats' line-up and won two of his first three singles matches of spring season.

The Quinnipiac University men's tennis duo of Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) and Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) fell in the finals of the Connecticut State Championships at Yale's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center, as the Bobcats completed the fall portion of their schedule. Weeden and James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) also reached the quarterfinals of the singles draw. Weeden was honored with the Sportsmanship Award, as decided by the officials, following the tournament.

Three Quinnipiac University men's tennis players advanced to the singles Round of 16 at the Connecticut State Championships, Friday at Yale's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.), Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) and Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) each won a match in the Round of 32 to advance to Saturday's Round of 16. Mikkelson and Weeden also paired to advance to the doubles quarterfinals with a Round of 16 victory.

Quinnipiac University men's tennis sophomore Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) was defeated by 14th-seeded Christo Schultz of Harvard, 6-2, 6-1, in the ITA Northeast Regional Round of 64 Saturday at Yale's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. The loss follows an unprecedented run by Weeden, as he became the first player in Quinnipiac history to advance through qualifying to the main draw. Weeden beat Stony Brook's Francesco Arciuli and Marist's Joris Van Eck in qualifying before defeating Hofstra's Antonio Pena in the main draw Round of 128.
