ORLANDO,
Fla. - Andrew Weeden (Martinsville, N.J.) earned wins in both
singles and doubles, but Western Illinois edged the Quinnipiac
University men's tennis team, 4-3, Monday afternoon to being the
Bobcats' three-match spring trip to Florida. With the loss, the
Bobcats fall to 3-6, while the Leathernecks improve to 3-7.
Kwei defeated Patrick Hammers, 6-0, 7-6, at No. 2 singles, while Nelson edged Alejandro Buceta, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) at No. 3.
The Bobcats return to action Tuesday evening, when they face Oklahoma Baptist. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

James Kwei (Dedham, Mass.) and Chris Nelson (Scituate, Mass.) also earned singles wins as the Bobcats took the top three singles flights, but losses at No. 2 and 3 doubles, as well as Nos. 4-6 singles did Quinnipiac in.
Weeden paired with Brian Mikkelson (Mequon, Wis.) to defeat Mandela Shepard and Francisco Ortiz, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles, before Weeden fought past Jeff Cote, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) at No. 1 singles.
