Men’s Tennis Drops Non-Conference Match to Army, 6-1

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Fahoum Fahoum (Haifa, Israel) picked up his 15th win with the Bobcats on Sunday morning, as the Quinnipiac University men's tennis team put forth a strong effort against Patriot League powerhouse Army at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center in West Point, N.Y. The Black Knights, who have five NCAA Tournament appearances, took the match 6-1 in the first meeting between the two schools.

Quinnipiac, now 2-5 overall, fell behind early after three straight losses in the doubles segment. Fahoum and Luke Roser (Bernardsville, N.J.) were defeated by Asika Isoh and Harrison McCormick, 8-3, at No. 1; Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) and Alex Lazerowich (Stratham, N.H.) fell short to Rashad Shelton and Caison Best, 8-6, at No. 2; and Sebastian Barbero (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Garrett Lane (Reading, Mass.) lost to Henry Jang-Milsten and Peter Sienko, 8-6, at No. 3.

The Bobcats put up a strong effort in singles, winning one match and forcing a deciding set in two others. Fahoum picked up the lone win at No. 2, where he defeated Shelton in a third set tie-break, 6-4, 2-6, 12-10. Ambrosio and McCormick went the full distance, but Ambrosio fell short by a final of 3-6, 6-0, 7-5, at No. 3; and Roser was defeated by Austin McCasin in a third set tie-break, 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (7-4), 11-9.

Quinnipiac enjoys an eight-day stint before its next action. The Bobcats head to Orlando, Fla. for their annual Spring Break trip with three matches scheduled throughout the week. The first match will take place on Monday, March 11th at 11:30 a.m.
