Men's Indoor Track Competes At IC4A Championships

BOSTON – The Quinnipiac University men's indoor track team ran at the first day of the IC4A Championships at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center. Freshman Dan Roark (Dracut, Mass.) was the lone individual runner competing at the meet for the Bobcats. Roark ran in 3000-meter race, posting the fastest time by a Quinnipiac freshman in the event as he crossed the line in 8:29.20. That time was a personal best by more than eight seconds for the freshman harrier.

"I'm really excited for Dan," said Head Coach Shawn Green. "That's a great time for a freshman. I think he learned a lot today, especially in a very physical race like this one was."

The men's Distance Medley Relay Team also ran at Boston University. Senior Jack McDonald (Cheshire, Conn.) ran the 1200-meter leg in 3:06, while fellow senior Steve Pilch posted a time of 52 seconds in the 400 meters. Senior Chris Foster (Mystic, Conn.) ran the third leg of the race, finishing the 800-meter leg in 2:00. Freshman Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) ran the final leg of the race in the 1600 meters. Klauber's time of 4:29 pushed the Bobcats' total time to 10:36.58 for the race.

"For the three seniors, it was a nice way to end their indoor careers," Green said. "This was a long season and they finished strongly today."

This was the final indoor competition of the season for Quinnipiac. The Bobcats will return to action in outdoor track on Saturday, Mar. 28 at the Monmouth University opener in West Long Branch, N.J.
