NEW HAVEN, Conn. The Quinnipiac University men's outdoor track team hosted the Quinnipiac University Track & Field Outdoor Classic at Yale's Dwyer Track. The Bobcats competed against Providence, Stony Brook and Iona in the dual meet. Dan Roark (Dracut, Mass.) highlighted the meet for the Bobcats with a first-place performance in the 3000-meter steeplechase. The freshman harrier crossed the line in 9:29.59.
Quinnipiac was 0-3 in the dual meet, losing to Iona, 71.00-47.00, Providence, 90.00-33.00 and Stony Brook, 70.00-48.00.
Seniors Chris Foster (Mystic, Conn.) and Steve Pilch (Medford Lakes, N.J.), sophomore Andrew Mayernick (Staatsburg, N.Y.) and freshman Frankie DiSomma (Sparta, N.J.) made up Quinnipiac's 4x400-meter relay team. The four runners finished in 3:36.91, good for third place.
The Bobcats' 4x100-meter relay team finished in second place in 46.82. The four-man team was comprised of Mayernick, Foster, Matthew Andriulli (Oakland, N.J.) and Alex Mako (North Andover, Mass.). Foster also finished fourth in the javelin throw, posting a mark of 32.60 meters.
In the mile run, freshman Andrew Sullivan (Ellington, Conn.) placed third in 4:32.19. Senior Jack McDonald (Cheshire, Conn.) finished two spots behind Sullivan in fifth place with a time of 4:35.94.
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, April 11, as they travel to Amherst, Mass., to compete in the UMass Invitational. The meet is set for an 11:30 a.m. start.
