AMHERST, Mass. The Quinnipiac University men's outdoor track team ran in the UMass Invitational Saturday afternoon. Freshman Dan Roark's (Dracut, Mass.) performance in the 1500-meter race highlighted the meet for the Bobcats. Roark won his heat in a personal-best time of 4:02, leading the race wire-to-wire. The Bobcats placed 10th at the meet with three points, while meet host UMass finished in first with 186 team points.
Addison Pellerano (Surry, Maine) posted a personal-best time of 33:40 in the 10,000-meter race. That time bested his previous top performance by nearly 40 seconds as he finished 10th overall.
Senior Chris Foster (Mystic, Conn.) led a quintet of Quinnipiac runners in the 800-meter race, posting a time of 2:00 and 13th overall. Seniors Steve Pilch (Medford Lakes, N.J.) and Jack McDonald (Cheshire, Conn.) and freshman Sean Ramsey (Southbury, Conn.) all finished with identical times of 2:01. Freshman John Healy (Middletown, Conn.) followed close behind with a time of 2:03.
Foster, Healy, Ramsey and McDonald comprised the Bobcats' 4x400-meter relay team at UMass. The four-man team combined to post a time of 3:40.26.
"I was really pleased with the way these guys ran today," said Head Coach Shawn Green. "The weather was extremely difficult today, but the guys turned in good performances and ran well despite that fact."
Quinnipiac returns to action on Saturday, April 18 as they travel to Storrs, Conn., to compete in the UConn Invitational.
