HAMDEN, Conn. - The Northeast Conference announced Quinnipiac University men's cross country freshman Jamie Glover (Clifton Park, N.Y.) as the 2009 season's first Road Runner Sports NEC Rookie of the Week. The first-year runner posted the best showing by a Quinnipiac harrier at the Stony Brook Invitational. His time of 21:03 was good enough for an eighth-place showing in his first collegiate race and helped the Bobcats to a third-place team finish on the 6200-meter course. Wagner's Zachary Spector earned the distinction of Road Runner Sports NEC Athlete of the Week, joining Glover on the conference's weekly honor roll.
"Jamie showed great effort in his first race," said assistant coach Roy Harrison. "Coming from a good program at Shenendehowa High School we were not surprised at his showing at Stony Brook. He will be a vital part of this program's success in the future."
The Bobcats return to action this weekend on Saturday, Sept. 12 as they travel to Hanover, N.H., to run in the Dartmouth College Invitational. The meet is set to begin at noon.
