HOLMDEL, N.J. – The Quinnipiac men’s cross country team placed eighth out of 14 teams at the 17th Annual Monmouth Invitational on Saturday morning. East Stroudsburg won the 8k course with 63 points, while Quinnipiac finished with 178 points in total. The Bobcats were led by freshman Spencer Mannion (Brookfield, Conn.), who placed sixth overall.
Mannion, who crossed the finish line in 26:47.5, has been the Bobcats’ top finisher in each of their meets during the 2011 season.
“I’m very pleased with the men’s performances today,” said head coach Carolyn Martin. “I thought we ran smart and moved up in the race well. After running three weekends in a row, they still ran hard, which I was really happy about. I think it was great for the men to get a preview of the Northeast Conference course.”
Freshman Thomas Dextradeur (Branford, Conn.) followed Quinnipiac’s top-finisher, and placed 35th overall in 27:56.9, while senior John Beckshaw (Medford, Mass.) finished in 43rd place with a time of 28:15.5. Finishing next for the Bobcats was sophomore Richard Stoliker (Shelton, Conn.), who placed 47th in 28:22.4, followed by junior Jacob Cetera (Chicago, Ill.) in 53rd place at 28:36.
