STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac men’s cross country team competed at the Stony Brook Season Opener on Saturday morning. Freshman Spencer Mannion (Brookfield, Conn.) led the Bobcats as he placed fourth with a time of 19:33 in his first collegiate meet. Overall, the host took first place with 18 points, while Quinnipiac finished in second place with 50 points and CW Post came in third with 66 points.
Junior Mike Levene (Reading, Conn.) was Quinnipiac’s second finisher, placing sixth in 19:52. Freshman Thomas Dextradeur (Branford, Conn.) finished next for the Bobcats in 11th with a time of 19:55, followed by Jacob Cetera (Chicago, Ill.) in 20:05. Sophomore Richard Stoliker (Shelton, Conn.) rounded out the Bobcats’ top-five, as he crossed the finish line in 20:31.
“We saw some great racing today,” said head coach Carolyn Martin. “Although, there’s certainly some things we can improve on, the men have such a positive attitude that I’m really looking forward to seeing the season unfold.”
Quinnipiac returns to action when it competes at the Fordham Fiasco on Sept. 10 in Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y.
