Several Bobcats Impress, Lead Men's Cross Country to 23rd Place at NCAA Northeast Regional
Coming off an impressive 3rd place showing at the NEC Championship, the Quinnipiac men's cross country team finished their stellar season with a 23rd place result at the NCAA Northeast Regional at Hammonassett Park. Senior Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) capped his outstanding career with another strong showing, placing 40th out of 239 runners at the 10k event to lead Quinnipiac. Iona had all five of their runners finish in the top-20 to win the event with 45 points.

Men's Cross Country Finishes a Mere Seven Points Out of First, Takes 3rd at NEC Championship
The Quinnipiac men's cross country team nearly came away with their first Northeast Conference Championship since 2008 on Saturday, finishing 3rd in the pressure-packed event. Senior Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) and freshman Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.) gave Quinnipiac their first All-Conference honorees since the 2009 season when Klauber was joined by two other Bobcats in an event where they finished the runners-up. The Bobcats (79 points) nearly came away with the title as they finished a mere seven points behind first-place Central Connecticut State (72 points) who claims their fourth consecutive NEC Championship.

Men's Cross Country Races for First NEC Title Since 2008 on Saturday at 12 p.m. hosted by Bryant University
The traditionally dominant Quinnipiac men's cross country team looks to regain its championship form after finishing sixth at the 2011 Northeast Conference Championship. After finishing no worse than second from 2003-09, the past two seasons have been a struggle, including its 2011 performance, the Bobcats finished eighth in 2010. Another year however and with the recent influx of talent, especially at the top with senior Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) and freshman Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.), Quinnipiac looks to reclaim their stranglehold on the NEC.

Men's Cross Country's Ryan Wolff Competes at CCSU Mini Meet
Senior Ryan Wolff (Mount Holly, N.J.) represented the Bobcat’s men's cross country contingent at the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet on Saturday. Wolff was the lone Quinnipiac representative in the 5k event and finished in 78th-place overall as he crossed the finish line in 17:28.22.

Men's Cross Country Finishes 20th (of 24 teams) at Princeton Invitational; Copley Strong in Bobcat's Effort
The Quinnipiac men's cross country team, backed by freshman sensation Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.), placed 20th (out of 212 competitors) at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday. The two-time Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, Copley has finished either first or second among Bobcat runners in all four races he has competed this season. The Bobcats finished with 544 points while the winner of the Princeton Invitational is St. Joseph’s (Pa.) with 46 points.

Rich Klauber Named NEC Athlete of the Week for Third Time in 2012
Senior Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) of the Quinnipiac men's cross country team was named the Northeast Conference Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Oct. 9. For Klauber, the Athlete of the Week honor is his third of the 2012 season, more than any other runner in the NEC. It also marked his second consecutive selection and the fifth of his career.

Klauber Posts Incredible 8th Place Finish; Men's Cross Country Finishes 23rd (of 37) at New England Championships
There was no stopping senior Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) on Sunday at the New England Championships as he finished 8th overall in a race that featured a season-high 261 competitors. He led the Bobcats to a 23rd place result out of 37 collegiate teams, up 10 spots from last year’s 33rd place finish in the same event. Several Bobcats including Klauber achieved new personal-bests as the team continues to build for a successful late-season run.

Rich Klauber and Brendan Copley Sweep NEC Weekly Awards For Second Time This Season
Quinnipiac men's cross country combined to sweep the Northeast Conference Weekly Awards for the second time in the 2012 season. As announced by the league office on Tuesday, Oct. 2, senior Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) claimed the NEC Athlete of the Week and freshman Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.) was named the NEC Rookie of the Week. The duo also took home the honors in the same week on Sep. 5 after the Bobcat’s first race of the year at the Stony Brook Invitational.

Men's and Women's Cross Country Volunteer at Mari's Miles of Smiles Road Race in Cheshire
The Quinnipiac men’s and women’s cross country teams joined up to help run the third annual Mari’s Miles of Smiles Road Race in Cheshire held on Saturday, Sept. 22. The joint volunteer mission was part of Quinnipiac’s Positive Play Initiative, designed to encourage community service by Quinnipiac’s student-athletes, coaches and staff.

Senior Rich Klauber Dominates, Leads Bobcats to 12th Place (out of 33 Teams) at Lehigh Paul Short Run
The Quinnipiac men’s cross country team put forth on of their strongest efforts of the season on Friday afternoon at the Lehigh Paul Short Men’s 8k Brown Race as they placed 12th out of 33 collegiate teams. The Bobcats amassed 379 points on the afternoon while the University of Pennsylvania claimed first place with 47 points. Highlighting the Bobcat’s effort was senior Richard Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) who placed 6th overall (out of 225 runners) with a blazing time of 25:23.

Senior Mike Levene Leads Bobcats Men's Cross Country to Second Place Finish in His Final Home Meet
Senior Mike Levene (Redding, Conn.) came away with a dramatic 3rd place finish as he passed several runners in the final 100 yards to lead the Bobcats to a 2nd place finish at the Quinnipiac Invitational. Several Bobcats runners were honored beforehand as it was the final home meet for three men’s cross country seniors. NEC rival Central Conn. St. finished with 24 points to take the win while the Bobcats compiled 31 points to take second in the 8k event.

Men's Cross Country Senior Day Set For Saturday as the Bobcats Take on CCSU at the Quinnipiac Invitational
The Quinnipiac men’s cross country team will host the Quinnipiac Invitational on Saturday September 15 with the men’s 8k event starting at 10:45 a.m. The Bobcats welcome the visiting Blue Devils and fellow NEC opponent Central Connecticut State. The course begins alongside to the Quinnipiac Soccer Field and makes its way across the Mount Carmel campus quad and around other various Quinnipiac athletic fields.

Freshman Brendan Copley Leads Men's Cross Country to 4th (of 12) at Nassaney Race
Reigning NEC Rookie of the Week and freshman standout Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.) teamed up with reigning NEC Co-Athlete of the Week senior Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) to lead the Bobcats to a fourth place showing at the Shawn M. Nassaney Memorial Race hosted by Bryant University. Copley and Klauber finished the 8k event in 10th and 11th overall and helped lead Quinnipiac to 133 points and a fourth place team finish on Saturday.

Wednesday’s announcement from the league office marked the first time Quinnipiac men’s cross country has swept both the Athlete and Rookie of the week honors since Klauber was recognized with both on Sep. 23, 2008.

Men's Cross Country Opens 2012 Season With Second Place Finish at Stony Brook Invitational
Paced by the return of senior Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) and the sensational debut of freshman Brendan Copley (Colchester, Vt.), the Quinnipiac men’s cross country team placed second at the Stony Brook Invitational on Saturday. Overall, the Bobcats finished with 49 points and an average finishing time of 20:04.83, coming 18 points behind the host Seawolves and ahead of Southern Connecticut, Manhattan College, and Sacred Heart. Their highest team-finish in a race since the same Invitational in 2011, the Bobcats opened the 2012 season with a host of individual successes.

Men's Cross Country Picked to Finish Seventh in NEC Pre-Season Poll
Quinnipiac University’s 2012 men’s cross country team was chosen to finish seventh in the Northeast Conference Pre-Season Coaches’ poll released by the league office on Tues. Aug. 21. The Bobcats finished the 2011 campaign sixth at the NEC Cross Country Championships and were paced by standout sophomore Spencer Mannion (Brookfield, Conn.), who finished in 27th place.

Quinnipiac University will host its annual Cross Country Challenge on Saturday, August 18, 2012, a 5k race that is sponsored by the Woodbridge Running Company.
